First a quick introduction...

My name is Rob and I have been vaping for almost a year now. For about 5 years I have been searching for something that interests me enough to make the investment of time, money and risk for the outcome of a viable business from which I can make a living from. As luck would have it, as ecigs has made it possible for me to close the door on the habit of smoking, it has also opened the door of my dream of owning my own business.

So a long story short, my younger sister and I have partnered up to open a brick and mortar vape shop and lounge in Roslyn, PA. Our goal is to guide as many people as possible in their journey of vaping. Personally I spent a lot of time and money in this past year learning as much as I could. Purchasing as many products as possible for the purpose of learning the ins and outs of each piece of hardware and which has the best value to me as a vaper. I've watched countless videos and read endless forums, as I'm sure many of you reading this have as well. There was not a local shop for me to go to and check out in person, all these things I would see online. So buying and trying was my only option. For anyone interested in ecigs, I hope to streamline the experience of being introduced to vaping and also help each customer get the products that suits them as their vaping needs grow.

Now on to the topic for which this thread was started: I thought I would post the progress leading up to opening day, which is still TBD.

After an exhaustive 2 month search, we finally found a suitable location. Our lease began 5/1. Our first 2 months of rent are waived to assist with the fit out. Here is a picture of the outside as it sits now:

This past week we have sent our architect a concept of the fit out He will be making us a floor plan design, and after everything is ironed out, we will be submitting the floorplan to a few contractors we have been in communication with. Here is the floorplan concept:

And that is all I have for now. Needless to say, it has been and is going to be a busy couple of months. Especially given the fact that I am also relocating back to Roslyn from Baltimore at the end of this month. Fun times!

Well its been a late night for me here... Happy Mothers day for all you Moms out there! I'll check in again soon...

Thanks Plumes.
No, I don't have any profession experience to speak of in business and/or bookkeeping. Although I'm fairly keen on how to handle a few pennies, I have an accountant to help me keep matters in check, as I'm aware of the learning curve I face ahead. As with most things in my life, I've found the best way to learn is by doing.

So I saw this cool sign a couple days ago...

That night I noticed it had lights ;)

So our first real tangible evidence of a vape shop has finally been installed.
The state reviewer signed off on our floor plan drawings and now the township has them for review. With any luck we'll have them approved sometime next week and be able to get the contractor in there the following week!

Slowly but surely its all coming together.

Slowly but surely...

Just a quick update; The framing for the two interior walls have been put up and is scheduled for the code inspector today. After that, they can be rocked in and the flooring will be started. I believe all the contractor work should be complete sometime this week. Then its up to us to paint, install and setup the display/bar and all the other bits that are needed inside.

On a side note... I'm meeting with a web designer this morning to get things moving on the e-commerce side of thing ;)

Busy busy, I'll check in again soon with some pix!

Thanks Tony! Was great meeting you guys and I'm glad you like the shop. You really made it easy, being that you pretty much did my job for me by explaining everything to your friend.

I guess this would be a good time to announce to the rest of the forum that we're finally OPEN... It was a long "coming soon" for us, but we've finally opened the doors for business. We're still smoothing the rough edges out, but have really enjoyed our first week of meeting some of the local vaping community and seeing those of you who came in the shop to experience vaping for the first time... I hope you can stick with it and stay away from those stink sticks!

For the next few weeks we will be at the shop from 10-8ish daily. Eventually I'll adjust the hours to accommodate a day of for myself, but until then, feel free to stop in any day! Keep an eye on our website and/or facebook or google+ for updates on our hours and other shop information.

Lastly, for anyone who has been to the shop, I would welcome any feedback, good or bad. I'm also open to any ideas you might have to make the shop more to YOUR liking!

Hope to see more of you PA vapers soon!

For our initial inventory, I tried to purchases as far across the spectrum as possible, a little bit of everything. I'm anxious to grow our inventory and there are many things I'd like to get my hands on, and will sooner than later.

Currently in our shop;
  • Protank (v1) and mini Protank
  • iSmoka mega BCC
  • ego winders (650 & 1300mah)
  • S.i.D
  • Magneto
  • Telescopic Natural
  • RSST
  • AW IMR 18350, 490 and 650s
  • i2 and i4 Intellicharger
  • other odds and ends of accessories
Off the top of my head I think that about covers it. I neglected to order my rebuildable materials (kanthal, silica, mesh), so I hope to get that in stock sometime next week. I have been just tossing customers some of my personal stash... but I'm quickly running out

Your question gives me a good idea. I'll update our website with a product list. At least this will give people an idea of what we carry until we get our online store up and running.

Feedback... keep the dubstep playing when I'm there! haha

Hopefully when you get some time and I get an RBA maybe you could teach a fellow vaper how to build a quality RBA

Do you plan on carrying EVODs and/or EVOD coil heads? My girlfriend is going to need a pack of coil heads soon. Seeing if you can get some or nah... I'd rather support local B&M than online.

How much are you selling the RSST for?

If I do order any EVOD or EVOD coil heads, it wouldn't be in the near future. If your girl is ever in a pinch, she can always use a protank coil and just swap the post for a used evod coil head post.

The RSST is priced at $35. Swing by anytime, I can certainly help you setup your first coil. Tinkering with RBAs is one of the best parts of my job!

Dude! I didn't even think of that. So smart!

idk what RBA I want to buy for my first one... have you used any others than the RSST?

Additionally, if I'm not mistaken, the protank coil will work on an evod as is, but the draw is fairly tight because of the length of the post.

I have used quite a few RBAs. The majority of my experience is with genesis atties using ss mesh. I decided to carry the RSST, because in my opinion, its one of the easiest to build on, especially for a first RBA. The wick hole is insulated, so oxidation of the bottom portion of the ss mesh isn't much of an issue. Additionally, the spring on the center post makes it simple to terminate the positive end of the coil. Lastly, there is a decent amount of space to work with.

If you prefer something with a bit more quality, and don't mind spending the extra money... you can't go wrong with the DID from MMVapors. They are almost always in stock, and it is a solid go-too device. That was my second RBA I ever purchased and I have it to this day.

Anyway, I hope this advice helps some. Stop by the shop and we can BS about it more if you'd like.

Once again, I'm up way to late poking around the interwebs... time to crash.
