Depends on what you mean by better. batteries last longer with an ego. Ego is cheaper.

I think I remember reading in another thread that you vape low nicotine, right? If that's the case, you should be OK with a Volt. A KR808 wouldn't have been enough for me when I first started. My Mom got one and then got an ego. Now that I haven't been smoking for awhile, I might be able to use a KR808. She uses her's occasionally- she has a V4L and Volt.

I have a 510 mini for shopping and things like that and I like it. I didn't quit with it.

I don't like the inconvenience of constantly charging changing batteries so the ego is 'better' for me. If someone wants something small, the Volt may be better for them.

Smoov is the same as Volt as far as I know. Volts has 65mm and 78mm batteries, manual batteries and auto batteries. Smoov and Volt as just names slapped on a model. Same as Bloogplanet and Halogcigs G6. KR808D-1 threading, 3.7v slim min batteries

Ego is a fat battery 510 model - less voltage than the above, but much longer charge (650mah+ where you have 180mah with Smoov). Because Ego is over 450mah it can optionally use hotter low resistance atomizer and cartomizers (which also use battery charge faster). There are also tank atomizers and tanks available for it plusalmost any kind of cartomizer that exists since 510 is the most popular threading. But as a 3-piece model, there are few prefilled cartomizers - just some Chinese ones, a small badly stocked variety of others at LiquidXpress, some at Volcanoecigs.

I received a 78mm Volt last week. The form factor is close to an analog, but the vaping experience is not (but it's as close as you will get with any e-cig really). This isn't a bad thing, however. I do like vaping more than smoking for a few reasons. I can vape in the house with stinking everything up, the flavor variety is almost limitless, and if all I want is a puff or two, I can have just a puff or two without wasting or having to save part of a smoke. The Smoov and the Volt are both kr808's, so what you have now is going to be pretty similar to the Volt. If you are not satisfied with the Smoov, the Volt may not be the answer. I'm actually returning my Volt and I have an eGo kit on the way as we speak.

im on 14 mg right now but ordered some 12 and 6 mg bottles ... is either one of those close to the look at feel of an analog ... im a little apprehensive about going with something without that feel to it since i just quit smoking a week ago ....

The mg is the milligrams of nicotine in a milliliter. It has nothing to do with the PV (personal vapor) device. The mg of nic is what makes the cravings stop because it's the amount of nicotine your body is used to with analogs. I hope this helps.

All e-cigs are going to be heavier than a regular analog cig. It's virtually impossible to make a battery that light.

Edit: the volt is smaller and will feel closer to a real cig than the ego but the volt will need to be rechargers sooner because of the battery size.

I've vaped a lot of different ecigs, all sorts of mods, even made mods and cartomizers, atomizers, dual-coil low res cartomizers, tank mods, etc, etc, etc. But now I vape the SmokelessImage Volt. If that Smoov 65mm battery lasts 2 hours of heavy vaping, then it probably is very similar to the Volt. The Volt doesn't make that slurpy airy sound that the Smoov does with its teeny-tiny air hole down the center of the battery. The Volt 78mm battery lasts 4 hours of heavy vaping. The cartomizers last about 5 hours before they need topping off with a few drops of e-liquid.

For me, I just like automatic batteries so much better than having to press a button and all the flavor and vapor without having all the hassles of the Ego or other atomizer/cartomizer and etc ecigs. The Ego was my first ecig and I did not like having to fill up cartridges and stick them on top of atomizers and then fiddle with them for several minutes to get it to vape right and then 20 minutes later, have to do it all over again.

One thing you're going to get on these forums is a lot of folks who are now into what I call the hobbiest category. They want the biggest, shiniest, most milliamphours (mAh), highest priced models available. The last time they tried a small ecig like the Smoov or Volt, if it was prior to 2011, it was a terrible experience, batteries lasting 20 minutes and prefilled cartomizers tasting like dirty socks. They will browbeat you that the only way to go is bigger, shinier, more expensive, and a whole lot more fiddling with things that use 10-times more e-liquid in the same amount of time than what you have now, and they have no idea that the vaping experience between yours and theirs isn't all that different. Been there, done that.

So if you are looking to get more pv's because you need more batteries but are satisfied with your vaping experience, then you might want to check out the SmokelessImage Volt. If you want more pv's because you are curious about all the toys out there, yeah, maybe an Ego Tank System or an E-power, something along those lines. Those will be 510 threaded connections between the battery and the atomizer, so you will not be able to use your Smoov or other 808 threaded cartomizers on them, unless you get an adaptor (goodprophets sells adaptors for cheap).

As for what mg to get, it's all personal preference. Nothing's going to beat trial and error. If you are still feeling nicotine cravings, go up in mg for now. If you are not having nicotine cravings, then it's pretty much whatever you want. I've heard and read that increasing nicotine for most e-liquids increases that "throat hit" that simulates cigarette smoke better.

Congrats on your success!!!!!

that was very informative ... and thanks for the congrats!! .... its been a long road for me ... much shorter than most people i only smoked for about 5 years but no one knew about it with the exception of my coworkers so i was always covering it up and frebreezing everything .... i do enjoy the smoov ... but was unsure if i wanted to try and attomizer or not ... sounds like i should just stick to what i have and am currently enjoying just in case i spend a lot of money on something that doesn't really do it for me .... i just don't want to have to buy cartomizers all the time but i have been advised that you can clean them by boiling them and letting them dry over night .... and they only really need to be thrown away when you start to get a burnt taste to them.

How is using ego batteries with cartomizers any different than using a volt battery with cartomizers?

I'm really perplexed as to why someone would want to give the impression to new people that ego's are somehow a lot of work that you have to fool around with. Heck, you can put on a EMDCC that holds 5 ml of juice and not have to fill it for days. Most people seem to use the ego the same way you use your volt, with a carto. It's a great fit for many people that don't want to change batteries often or have less money to spend.

now that you mentioned that...when i'm not using my eGo for taste testing i do occasionally use a 510-808 adapter (usually if i've forgotten to charge my batteries or something stupid like that ) but i do find that it seems i get much better vapor, etc from the 808 than i do from the eGo. i don't have tons of money to spend but i do at least have some options :D but when it's all said and done if i could only have one it'd be the 808.

Everyone has different preferences. Like I said, my mom has KR808s and used them before she got her ego. She couldn't quit with a KR808. Quit immediately when she got the Riva ego. Now that she's been vaping and is down to 6mg nic, she uses the KR808 to go out. Personally as far as mini's go, I like the 510 better. We don't all like the same thing. Some people do just fine with them. Heck, some people vape and love the convenience store brands.

I just don't get the need to put down other brands because you seem to prefer a different one. Give people all the actual facts and let them decide.

Ego is nothing like the shape/size of an analog. Its batteries are 14mm diameter. It is shaped more like a dry-erase marker than a cigarette.

Volt is 9.2mm diameter so it also is thicker than a cigarette. All decent slim minis are 9.2mm thick or thicker. if you go thinner like M401 you will have a tiny annoying push-up juice cup recessed down in the mouthpiece that will have you adding juice hopefully more often than it dumps the juice in your mouth.

If you are stuck on having something that looks like a cigarette, the smallest I would recommend is a real Joye brand white 510 with MANUAL batteries and use the brown/tan Boge standard resistance cartomizers from NiteLiteVapor on it instead of the atomizer and carts it comes with. Then it will look exactly like a slightly fat Marlboro. I recommend thin juices, 20% or less VG, with those cartos. Since you will have manual sealed batteries you can use a drip tip on the atomizer to test juices.

I vape those (except in black on black w/ blue LED) - it's a nice combination though short battery life (as short as what you currently have).

Don't buy auto batteries. To easy to damage or kill with cartomizer leaks. And manuals make it easier to get a good hit.
