Welcome. Today I will be taking a look at the Voopoo Argus pod mod kit that was sent to me by Health Cabin for the purpose of doing a fair and honest review. I am very familiar with the Voopoo product line due to having already written reviews on the Voopoo Drag X and Argus GT. Prior to that I already had purchased multiples of the Argus GT, PNP pod tanks, and a few other items. I most likely won’t go too far in depth on the PNP pods but will give links to prior reviews for those that are not yet familiar with them. First, let’s see what’s included and see some pictures.
What’s in the box?
First Impressions:
The packaging on the Argus Pod kit is what I would call average. It has an outer sleeved cardboard box and a slide out box that exposes a white cover that exposes the Argus Pod device, a standard PNP pod, a MTL PNP pod, two PNP coils, USB-C charging cable, and user manual. I received the blue model and quite like the looks of the device. As I mentioned earlier, I am quite familiar with the PNP line of tanks and coils as I’ve been using them in rotation on different devices for some time.
The mod itself is made of a metal alloy and leather. It is quite small and can be almost hidden in the hand. I’m not sure why they put the metal lanyard clip on the device. To me it’s a bit annoying and hits my hand when trying to fire the unit. The mod also has the slide style airflow adjustment that is used on many of the Voopoo devices such as the Drag Max and Drag X.
The interface is quite simple on this device. At the top it shows the battery level followed by power setting in clear and fairly large text, then below that is the mode, resistance, and puffs.
The mod is turned on and off by pressing the fire button five times. There are two modes P (manual) and A (double ignition mode). The double ignition mode means that it is designed to fire using the button or there is an auto draw feature. On the unit that I received, I wasn’t particularly impressed with the auto draw. With the MTL pod, I felt like I really had to draw hard in order to activate it even with the airflow control completely closed. It actually seemed to work a little better with the standard PNP pod. To clear the puff counter, press the fire button and the – button. To lock the unit, press the fire and + buttons. The mod cannot be fired when it’s locked. Charging of the 1500mah built in battery is done with a USB-C cable that is included and charges at 5V/1A.
The standard PNP pod holds 4.5ml while the MTL PNP pod holds 2ml. There was a .3 ohm coil included for the standard pod and a 1.2 ohm coil for the MTL pod. I found both coils to produce good flavor and vapor production as I would have expected having used other PNP coils. I switched back and forth between the two pods during my use of the Argus. That is one feature that is nice about the PNP tanks is you can quickly switch between them. One thing that I thought was strange was as you can see in the picture above that it shows a .3 coil and a 1.0 coil. That is not what was included in my kit. I received a .3 and a 1.2 coil. The user manual even says 1.2. I’m thinking it was just a type error on the picture.
Final Thoughts:
I really liked the size and simple function of the Argus Pod kit. I felt like the 1500mah battery lasted a fairly long time. With the MTL pod the battery lasted a very long time. With the .3 coil running at around 32 watts it lasted about a half of a day.
I really don’t like the metal clip on the mod above the fire button. I feel like if that was going to be included then maybe it could have been placed on the back side or just left off.
Like I mentioned before, I have quite a bit of experience with the PNP tanks and coils. I have always thought that they produced very good flavor. It has been my experience that most of the PNP coils seep some liquid over time if the mod is not being used so I tend to leave the pod off if I’m not going to use it for an extended period. After about a week or so of use I did have some minor seepage from the .3 coil but did not from the 1.2 coil.
One other issue that I experienced a few times was that I would get either a low power or low resistance message when trying to fire the unit. I am thinking this was from the liquid seepage since it only happened with the .3 coil in the standard PNP pod and after doing a quick wipe down inside where the pod seats, it was operational again. Besides that, I did not experience any other issues.
Would I recommend this device to you? Maybe. I know some others have no seepage issues with the PNP coils but I have. It’s never a big deal that a paper towel can’t handle but may annoy some more than others. I think I’m going to stay neutral on this one. You were looking for a fair and honest review so there it is.
