    Somewhere between here and there
Hello and welcome back for another review for Voopoo. They have kept me busy this year with one great device after the next being released. This time I will be doing my best to give you a fair, honest, and hopefully informative review on the new Drag 4 kit that was sent to me by Voopoo. The Drag 4 mod is a dual 18650 mod with a maximum output of 177 watts. It also has a 5V/3A charging rate built in. Besides the usual rba and Smart modes that we normally see on a lot of Voopoo devices, the Drag 4 has four temperature control modes. It also has a lock switch that you can choose from a few different options as to what you would like it to do. It has some more features that I’ll talk about more later but am happy that it uses a C frame battery cover that makes battery changes very easy. There are wood panel versions as well as resin panel versions available.

Included in the kit is also the U-Force L tank with a 4ml/5.5ml liquid capacity depending on the type of glass section you decide to use. It comes with a straight glass pre-installed but also includes a bubble glass to boost the liquid capacity. It has three airflow inlet holes to provide a 360 degree adjustable airflow. Also included in the kit are two new PNP coils that I will cover later in the review. Sounds pretty good right? I have a feeling it will be excellent but you’ll have to stick around to find out.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Drag 4 kit is very nice. There is a sleeve with a brown wood grain appearance slid partially over a gray box. The brown sleeve has the Drag 4 name on it while the Voopoo name is visible on the upper right corner of the gray box. The back of the brown sleeve has the contents list, company information, authenticity code, and a bar code with the version contained in the box. I received the Pale Gold+Walnut version for this review.

After sliding off the brown sleeve and removing the box top there is a black card on top with the word Drag on it. Underneath, the mod, tank, and spare bubble glass are sitting in a tray. I have to say that the Drag 4 mod has a very nice appearance and love the wood grain of the walnut. I was told that no two panels are exactly the same. Also included in the kit are the user manual, USB-C charging cable, spare o ring pack, and two new PNP coils. The coils come sealed in bags with a maximum rating on each. The PNP-TW20 has a resistance of .2 ohms and has a maximum wattage rating of 55 watts. The second coil included is the PNP-TW15 with a resistance of .15 ohms and a maximum rating of 70 watts.

Each side of the Drag 4 mod has a very nice walnut panel. The left side has the Drag 4 name near the bottom while the opposite side has no branding. The back of the mod has a nice brown leather like strip with the Voopoo name stamped into it. Once again, I just can’t get over how much I like the design of this mod.

    1669823330684.png

The part of the mod with the wood panels and leather back are all one piece and make up the C-frame battery cover. It slides off to allow the user to install the two 18650 batteries required to power the mod. There are two strong magnets on the inside of the battery cover and the inside of the battery tray has the polarity clearly marked. There is also cloth strap to make battery removal easier. The opposite side from the battery tray has the words “Thank You for Choosing Drag” and has some battery safety tips.

The bottom of the mod has the Gene TT chipset name printed on it as well as “Designed by Voopoo”. The top of the mod has the Drag name etched on the outer perimeter of the 510 connection plate and has “Spark Your Life” below. There is the standard gold plated spring loaded center pin. I think it’s interesting how there is a little ear sticking out on each side of the threaded 510 connection holding it into place with the outer ring.

The front of the mod has what I think of as the signature round Drag fire button that reminds me of the fire button on other Drag devices I’ve used. I didn’t see in the specifications where it said the size of the display screen but I measured it and it appears to measure at 1.09” with my digital caliper. It’s not calibrated so could be off a little. Below the display is the Multi-Function Switch. I tend to think of it as a programmable switch since you can have it do one of three different functions. As shipped, it locks the entire mod. You can go into the menu and choose between that function, lock the wattage only, or turn the device completely on or off. You might also notice if you look closely that there is a symbol indicating whether you are in the on or off position. Below the switch is the usual + and – buttons followed by the 5V/3A USB-C charging port. I don’t recommend charging batteries inside the mod but if you have to and have a large enough power supply to handle 3A then this one should get you up and going pretty quickly.

The display on the Drag 4 shows the following information.

    • Set wattage
    • Mode of operation
    • Dual battery indicators with percentages
    • Voltage output while firing
    • Coil Resistance
    • Puff counter
    • Length of time of current puff

The Drag 4 has some extra added features like a series of Temperature control modes. The menu operation for the Drag 4 is as follows.

    • Press the fire button 5X to turn the device on/off
    • Toggle the multi-function switch to lock/unlock the device. If you choose to power the device on/off with the switch then you can press the fire button 3X to lock/unlock the device
    • Press the + and – buttons to enter the menu. Use the + and – buttons to select options and press the fire button to confirm
    • The modes of operation in the menu available are Smart, RBA, ECO, and TC.
    • The Switch option allows you to choose between Turning the device on and off, Lock/Unlock the device, or Lock/Unlock the Power
    • Puff reset is self-explanatory
    • About tells you the device information
    • Color lets you change the UI display color

The tank included in the Drag 4 kit is the UForce-L tank which is the first PNP atomizer with three top airflow inlets. This tank has a huge amount of airflow available even with the airflow control nearly closed. I didn’t run it over ¼ open even running at 60 watts.

As always, yes I know I sound like a broken record, clean any new tank you receive. The UForce tank is easily broken down. It comes with a straight glass section pre-installed but a bubble glass is included to increase the liquid capacity from 4-5.5ml. I really like the look of this tank with the straight glass on it so ran it that way the entire time.

Included in the kit are two new PNP coils. There is a .15 ohm coil and a .2 ohm coil. These are two of the new TW series of PNP coils. There is also a third one that is available for separate purchase which is a .3 ohm coil. You might notice that the TW coils have a purple o ring while the prior VM series coils have a red o ring. This gives the user an easy way of keeping track of which coil they are installing. The UForce tank is compatible with all of the PNP coils.

The UForce tank has three airflow control openings. The airflow control ring has two dividing lines to separate the airflow inlet into three lines. The control ring does not have a positive stop so can turn 360 degrees unimpeded. The top cap for the tank is a bit recessed but is knurled at the top to help get a good grip on it. It screws/unscrews easily so being recessed did not cause any trouble with getting the top off for refilling. There are rubber gaskets over the fill port and exhaust port. It doesn’t matter which you fill from. Whichever you fill from then the other allows air to escape.

If you look at the bottom of the base of the tank you will see that there are grooves cut into it that give it the appearance of being a heat sink. Well, that is exactly what it is. A rather ingenious design in my opinion.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

I have to give kudos to Voopoo for releasing a fantastic mod and tank kit with the Voopoo Drag 4 Kit. I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to get an actual mod kit after so many pods being released lately. Not only is it just another mod kit but Voopoo once again stepped up their game and came out with the fourth version of the Drag mod. Some other mods have switches to lock the devices but Voopoo went a step beyond and gave you a switch that you can choose how it operates from three options in the menu. They didn’t stop there. On top of the usual RBA and Smart modes we see on devices with the Gene chipset, they have added four temperature control modes for those that use it. I personally almost always use wattage mode so tested the mod in RBA mode. I also believe that the option to change the display color is new on this one. Not only is it packed with features, but it looks good doing it. Whether you prefer the wood panels like the one I received or you want resin panels, I think all of them look very good.

The new UForce-L tank definitely impressed me during my time testing it. The new TW series coils performed beautifully. It has more available airflow than I could ever use. So those that like big airflow will definitely like this one. The heat sink base design seems to really help dissipate the heat. The airflow is smooth and not noisy from my experience thanks to the control ring with the lines built into it.

I set the tank up with the .2 ohm coil and found my happy spot with this coil at 48 watts and had the airflow just barely cracked open. Even at this small airflow setting there was barely any restriction. I used the same 3mg lemon pound cake that I use for a lot of reviews and was very pleased with the fantastic flavor production. I was testing an rda at the same time as I was testing this coil and the coil brought out the lemon notes in the mix better than the rda did.

Next up was the .15 coil. I started a little lower and worked my way up to 60 watts with the airflow set about ¼ open. It was a bit of a cool vapor at that setting which is what I kind of like. This coil also brought out the lemon notes in the lemon pound cake mix very well. Of course at the higher setting a bit more vapor was produced and the tank emptied a little faster. I really like the look of the tank with the straight glass but if I was going to use the .15 coil long term then I think I would have to give in and run the bubble glass to get the full 5.5ml capacity.

I’d like to thank Voopoo and Nical for sending the Voopoo Drag 4 Kit for this review. It truly has been a pleasure to test and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys very good flavor and likes a large dual battery mod that is packed with features. Thanks again to the readers. I appreciate you reading my reviews. Below is a link to the website for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks! I'm surprised you don't have it already. They've been sending stuff the last few times at least a week before the release date.

Yeah me too, seems to be stuck in Germany although the estimate is 1-2 day delivery so who knows.

I did get a infinity GO GO GO gift box from them, big box with soccer ball, beer opener,(flag or little bag,not sure haven't opened it yet) and a pod device, can't remember the name at the moment.

I was told that was coming but haven’t gotten it yet. Voopoo usually sends out some sort of gift box around the holidays.

    Good review hittman :)

Like the looks of this one, sure they will do it without the tank too? As no interest in that tank, but I do want the mod though :)
Thanks! Yes, it will be available without the tank. I think I saw it on Sourcemore.

Not sure I trust SM, did their shipping get any better?
I understand where you’re coming from. I stopped ordering from them for a few months because I got several orders lost and reshipped. I just got sick of the drama. I finally placed a preorder for some coils a couple weeks ago and they shipped last week. I need to check the tracking.
