A little story...
A good mate of mine has been flogging the very first prototype that I made a year ago, for the whole year as his only mod. It's been dropped repeatedly, kicked, buried, rained on and sumerged. He's a big strong bloke, a hard worker in the outdoors, and and equally hard on gear. I told him he was going to get a replacement, and his only stipulation was that it had to be "Russ-proof" (his name is Russ). So this was born...Aussie hardwood of unknown variety but incredibly dense and hard, with alloy caps so no tarnish or maintenance required. CA inside and out, for a truly Russ-proof mod.

I'm aware that it won't look like that for long, but there was no way I could let him take the old one on a week long motorcycle adventure.

And it was still working fine!!

It's an antipodean thing, although i have done something similar in the past and then found someone to duplicate the mods from solid metal.
