.

So I get my new VS rdna 40 yesterday.

I check the supplied LG 2500 mah (I believe) battery and it's at 4.2 volts.

So I run it last night and this morning before heading off to work.

Battery Meter shows full as I hop in the car.

On the 3rd puff in the car heading to work I get a change battery message so I do immediately.

I get to work and pop it in the charger on my desk, 2.9 volts what the hell?

So my charger puts 2378 mah back in to a 2500 mah battery.

Why the hell even have a battery meter that shows full until the battery is fully discharged or within 122 mah of being fully discharged.

I don't treat my batteries this way, I consider 3.3 volts as low as I want to go on a 4.2v cell.

I don't have an rDNA so can't say much about it, but it does seem that you have a faulty device.

As for the battery. Full capacity is calculated from below 2.9v (possibly from 2.5v, but that really depends on the manufacturer). In addition the mAh ratings are an average. In real life some batteries will have a capacity slightly above or below the stated.

"Battery abuse"?

Most LiMn batteries are good to be drawn down as low as 2.5 volts without damaging the battery. That still needs to be checked against the manufacturer specs but I can't recall ever seeing an IMR chemistry battery that said otherwise. It's the older ICR chemistry batteries that started getting into serious trouble if you drew them below 3.2 volts. - not applicable here.

However, yours is the second complaint I have seen here in 24 hours of a DNA40 device draining batteries in standby mode, so it will be interesting to see where that goes. Is this another DNA 40 "feature" or DNA40 "defect"?

I don't believe that battery was drained in standby mode.

I vaped the heck out of it.

My major complaint is that the battery meter displayed full until there was only 122 mah of capacity left at which point it went straight to empty.

I work a lot with Lipo's for my RC stuff, I know the chemistry is different but I would expect a device as "Sophisticated" as VS dna device to be able to semi accurately display battery level.

Large screen or small screen? I'm gonna guess small screen. It's a known issue. Evolv changed the way the battery displays battery level on the large screens.

The way it was explained with the small screen is that it calulates from the last used wattage. If you're in TP, it could go by the last reading which would be a low wattage even if you're setting is high because the wattage would be throttled.

As others have said, battery capacity is an average of the batch. No 2 batteries will have the exact same capacity down to the milliamp. +/- 100mah isn't uncommon.
