problem is the hb6 has such a low mah

The thing is you would get more usage time of pushing it to 30 amps, than a VTC at over 2000 mAh but most don't realize that.

Also that's the nature of the beast, that's why these batteries with 35A+ ratings are BS. At current tech you can't get both mAh and power delivery, it's just not happening.

The only problem with HB6's. Is it would be easier to make a VTC5 using your hands than finding a HB6 in stock anywhere else. If I could I'd buy like 10 sets of Hb6's but I cannot for the life of me find any for sale in non wholesale quantities.

It's amazing to not see anyone rock these in cloud comps. It's shows how oblivious and disconcerted we are about the core of our devices, the batteries.

under the blue sky
It will be interesting to see the date code when someone unwraps a new one... but they certainly might be new. Some of the high end Ingersol (and others) cordless drills are still coming with VTC5s in their battery packs. E-Bike guys say they are still pulling VTC5s from a cordless leaf blower (Ego-Power maybe?) battery pack and at least one high-end European cordless drill.

I do not believe VTC5s are not in production. And, yes. I've seen the email response a few folks got back from Sony... The fact is, Sony never intended them for end users. They intend them for cordless tool battery packs. Sony views what we do with them as a liability.

I can't link to the video on ECF because there's some bad language in it, but search for plumesofhazard episode 31 on youtube. When you find the video, drag the bar over to an hour five (1:05). The relevant part starts right around that time.

I personally have something of a love/hate relationship with my VTC5s. Two out of the three I bought from the last batch started leaking right about 100 charge cycles. The good thing is the light green wrapper shows it when it happens. The bad thing is that I figure they shouldn't have leaked. I have no idea if they were handled roughly somewhere along the line or if they were defective or any number of other possibilities and it makes me hesitate when I consider buying more....

But I do desire to have more of them because they are the only batt I've found that suits my vaping perfectly. I get exactly one day out of them. Every morning before I leave, I change batts. I like my set up from full charge down to 3.6. My VTC5s are always 3.59-3.62 every single time. 5.5ml per day and running a .55 ohm dual coil RM3 never pushes the batts anywhere near their potential, but the capacity and discharge rate works out perfectly for how I vape. I like them.

So...I know it makes no logical sense, that 4 volts is 4 volts, but I swear this VTC5 has a little more punch to it than my Samsung 25R's. If it continues to hit like this for a good run time - which all the charts say it should, I'm gonna need a couple more of these.
I don't push low - I'm at like 0.6 ohms - there shouldn't be ANY difference. But there is...

Hi all

From what I have seen on the battery spec charts that I have looked at, we typically use a very small portion of the total mah of a battery. At that point the battery is at about 3.7V, the vape is noticeably weaker and we take it out and put in a fresh one. If I am reading correctly on the charts i have seen, the usable mah can be as low as 30% of the stated mah rating of the battery (i think they measure it down to much lower, like 2.5V).

So perhaps the battery experts can help me out here.

What I am interested in is the battery with the most "usable mah" at about 4 to 8 amps. What I mean by "usable mah" is the mah usage from a fresh 4.2 volts to about 3.7 volts. Most of my coils are 0.5 to 1 ohms. I seldom go below 0.5.

I currently use Efest 2500 mah purple batts. Have several of them and they have been working fine in my Reos for over a year. But am preparing to get new batteries in the future, so wanted to get the best ones for my purpose.
