yukon, ok
i'd really like to get a mod. i've found one on a website where they are selling a whole mod starter kit (mod,2 batteries,charger,2 atomizers) for $59 with free shipping. all it says is VA vv tube mod. i don't know if VA is the brand. it's on vaporalley.com. i was wondering if anyone knows anything about this mod. would it be a good idea to buy it? $59 for the whole kit is cheaper than i've seen anywhere else. just wondering if anyone knows if it's worth it??

It looks like it is just a rebranded LavaTube. They are pretty good, but not the best out there. I have a Lavatube (LT) and I really enjoy mine. For $60 it's not a bad deal. They are, however, limited to 2.5 amps. That means once it hits that limit it will roll down the volts to prevent frying something. There are 1.5 versions available for about $20 more for a complete kit that has some new internals and a 3.2 amp limit. There is a whole area for LT discussion if you would like to poke around there.
Here is the link..Lavatube

Don't know when you hit 5 posts, but after your fifth you will need to wait about an hour before you can post in other areas of the forum. Good luck!

Hi Reddragons, This may be a great tool for you to try out for specific questions on what works with what,,,,, http://www.the12volt.com/ohm/ohmslawcalculators.asp I am a car audio builder and these things are second nature but there is a few handy calculators on that link that willl lessen the confusion for you. Gave it a quick trial. It says you should be ok at 6 volts with a 2.4ohm carto/atty. BUT thats alot of power and might cause a wee nasty flavor if your carto/atty isn't soaking wet. When I use a 2 ohm(Boge) carto I find that 4.7volts is about the tipping point for the flavor/vapor/ scorching effect of my own liquids. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Thank you everyone. This is my first mod so I have no idea what voltage I'm gonna like. I'll try out 4.7. That calculator will be helpful. I'm used to using 306 LR atomizers. I guess I'll have to try out something different

If you want to stay in that relative price range, I would not get a lavatube that does not allow you to use certain attys/cartos as PittBoss pointed out. I would look at the EVO or a good VV box mod before I would get an LT. There have also been many negative posts on LT's not holding power constant when vaping. Based on the track record of the first LT's I would wait for a while before I would buy the lastest version until it's known what problems it has.

I have 2 madvapes boxmods (and destroyed a third while drinking). Got my LT this past week. The LT is a bit more sturdy, but the boxmods are a bit more reliable. Also, the battery life on the boxmods are many hours shorter than the LT. If you want a good, cheap VV mod, either is a good option, but if you're not fully sure, go for the box mod. $35 on madvapes, plus batteries and charger (another $20-30)... plus if you break it, it's only a $35 replaement cost

Hi,

The reason that the 1st generation Lavatubes are dropping in price is because the 2nd generation is shipping. The new one doesn't have the 2.5 amperage limit and plays much nicer with the dual coils. That being said, the 1st generation is a good unit. You just need to know the math to pick voltage and resistance (ohms).

I - amperage, V - voltage, R - ohms (resistance)

I = V/R

.-> don't hurt your brain, download an ohm's Law calculator. PC, MAC or smart phone. Many free to choose from.

Once you figure it out, you will most likely stay with a constant setup of carto/atty and voltage setting.

P.S. you will find a higher res and higher volts will give you lower amps. So you will easily be able to stay below 2.5 amps.

Checkout my post entitled "Volts, Amps, Ohms, Battery Life Oh my!". Its not high volts that make a great vape. Its finding your sweet spot wattage.
