Can't help you with the variable wattage mode; none of my APV's have it. In variable voltage mode, most recommend start low in voltage and increase in voltage in increments until you begin to detect some burnt taste, then knock the voltage down by 0.2 - 0.4 volts.

Another "rule of thumb" is to take your ohm rating and add "2". For example, your 3.0 ohm + 2 = 5 volts.

The Safe vaping Power Chart can be helpful for new vapors find the resistance range that their juice delivery devices can be used.

I adjust my voltage "to taste" depending upon the flavor that I'm vaping at the moment. Fruits often are best in a lower voltage range. Something like a coffee or tobacco flavor may be better at a higher voltage.

Variable wattage essentially means that you can forget about having to do the calculations for voltage output with each specific coil resistance. No matter what the resistance of the coil is that you attach to your mod, the mod calculates the proper voltage to achieve a similar vape experience.

Personally the only time I change my mods to variable voltage mode now is when I am doing a dry burn to clean a coil.

Hey thanks for the replies ! So how do I calculate what I should have my watts at ?

What I would do is set it to 6 watts to start, then increase it if you need to in order to achieve the vape quality you prefer. If you get a burnt taste or a dry hit drop it down a notch. It's really all personal preference.

So I sound like a broken record but thanks lol so if I use wattage mode start at 6watts I don't have to worry about setting the voltage level ?

I prefer watts. set to 8 and forget it. can change to just about any ohm coil/tank and it will give you the same vape "experience" example..
1.8 coil on a 3.7volt battery is a pretty good vape. Turns out to be about 7.5 watts... so, you can set it to 7.5 watts and get the same "hit" on a 2.5 coil. It will automatically increase the voltage to give you the same "hit". With this..2.7 coil set to the same 7.5 watts, it automatically sets the volts to 4.5. So you dont have to keep moving your voltage around when you change coils/tanks.
hope that helps
