This actually happened a couple weeks back..

I walked with my roommate into a breakfast cafe close to my apartment (never went there before), ordered coffee while waiting for our breakfast.. I very much enjoy coffee with some nicotine, I was feeling kinda grumpy and tired so I didn't really care much..

I vaped and puffed towards our table, completely unaware that the waitress behind the bar noticed that single hit.. Then under the pressure of my roommate's requests, I take my coffee and PV and vape outside..

When I went back in, my roommate tells me that "that waitress came and actually said you can vape inside"!

I was really impressed by how open-minded and well-educated she was!

She brought our breakfast and asked me to show her my PV and I explained to her how it works :)

It was the first time someone "asked me to vape indoors".. I tipped her generously and added a lollipop I had in my backpack, haha

I hope this single experience signals a little acceptance and understanding of eCigs in the world.

I also think I'm going there again in a few minutes,

Mornin' everyone!

In the case eCig use is not crippled with aggressive bans and false negative health effects campaigns in the media, the number of vapers will exceed the number of smokers significantly in a few years..

Regular cigarette smoking will soon -at least I hope so- look even more disgusting as the reputation of PVs spreads around to the average joe..

I hope not. It is my choice to vape, but it was also my choice to smoke, I don't need to be looked at as disgusting no matter what activity I choose. Also, many of my friends choose to smoke, my wife and mother smoke, and I refuse to ever look at them with disgust.

Exactly. (almost) All of us on ECF have smoked cigarettes at one point in our lives, usually for most of our lives, and it's disrespectful to have an attitude toward someone because they smoke. If you really want to put that energy toward something good - slip them a e-cig biz card. They're free on here.

I sure hope so too, and I believe regular cigarette smoking is already looking more disgusting!!

I hope the number of people choosing to vape continues to increase....and I've never had anyone have a problem with my vaping. Either they don't notice, or they say "is that one of those new smokeless cigs?"

But I think we need to avoid judging and looking down on others for their choices. Someone trying to guilt me or judge me into quitting smoking only made me more determined to make my own choices. I'm incredibly glad i gave vaping a try, it will hopefully keep me from carting around a little oxygen tank in the future. i wouldn't have tried it if the person who showed it to me came to it with some judgmental attitude about how disgusting i was for still smoking.

Please think about that for a minute. If smoking becomes even more vilified, then vaping will follow. It LOOKS like smoking, and every anti-smoker group out there wants to rid the world of ANYTHING that looks like smoking. I don't know how those of you who support denormalization of smoking can say these things without understanding that what applies to smoking will also apply to vaping if things continue to favor the anti-smoker movement. You were a smoker less than 2 months ago. In the eyes of anti smoking, the fact that you continue to blow steam that looks like smoke, you remain at the mercy of the anti-smoker movement. World Health Organization Wants Electronic Cigarettes Taken Off the Market; Does Not Consider Them Legitimate Tool for Smoking Cessation
The Conference of the Parties to the World Health Organization's Framework Convention on Tobacco Control does not believe there is evidence that smoking cigarettes is any more dangerous than using electronic cigarettes, wants these devices taken off the market, and does not consider them to be a legitimate way to quit smoking, according to its report on electronic nicotine delivery systems.

The report concluded that "Claims that these products have health benefits, reduce harm, or can be used to aid smoking cessation should be prohibited until they are scientifically proven." This means the World Health Organization does not believe there is evidence at the present time that electronic cigarettes are any safer than regular cigarettes. Which is another way of saying that WHO does not believe there is evidence to support the assertion that smoking is any more dangerous than vaping.

Very cool. I have now vaped at two restaurants, one of which is part of a national chain (Steak and Shake). The other day, I vaped while buying paint in a Sherwin Williams store. I'm glad your waitress was cool with your vaping as I was with tolerance of my vaping in the two restaurants where I puffed. I am always aware however, that it could just as easily go the other way. So far though, it hasn't. Cool!

I was informed by a bar tended that I didn't need to go outside to vape (a nasty day) and there was an off duty cop in there that verified that the Denver PD were briefed on ecigs and told not to over react if they saw "smoke" in a normally no smoking area. So Denver seems to be on board about ecigs. But use your own judgement!

If I get dirty looks I will put it away or go into the restroom or to a smokers area.
