Hey all!!

so I've used nothing but clones up until now and I want to step it up and get something legit.

ive had a few nemmys, one from fast tech and one hcigar. I started with a k100 and a vamo, and now I'm using a chi you clone.

each clone has had its own little issues and I'm tired of having to deal with them!!!

i definitely want a mech, it can't have magnets in it due to my work.
there are so many out there so I want to get everyone's opinion and tips. I've been looking at the vanilla and I love how it looks but none of the local shops have it in stock, one had the jm 22 and it seemed nice.

oh I want to stay as close to $200 and I'll be using 18650 batteries and mostly 22mm attys, thanks for the advice everyone!

An LP Reo with an engraved polished brass door is pretty damn classy looking IMO.

Screenshot2014-05-04at12658PM_zps68b47c19.png

- All new Reos have gold plated copper contacts and low voltage drop.

- It offers up the obvious benefits of being more than a mere tube mod. (bottom feeder)

- It doesn't look like a dildo.

- With the LP Grand you could use traditional toppers on it if you wanted, and converting existing RDA's to bottom feed isn't hard with a dremmel.

- The detonator style button of the Reo is smooth and effortless as hell to use, and pretty unique and clever in the way it works. Ergonomic. Locks with a single twist, but there is no real need to ever lock it. (unless you throw it in a bag or purse)

- Milled out of a solid block of metal here in the USA.

You're going to have to stalk the Reo site though, as the brass doors are a new and random item offered. Maybe one or two a week will pop for the rest of the year, who knows? Of course non-brass door versions are readily available everyday.

The new SL Reos are pretty sick looking, if I do say so myself. An LP/SL Grand is my next purchase no doubt. The regular catch cup is pictured here, but you can get them in the LP (low profile) version too.

All in all, I'd say the Reo is a great "real deal/authentic" mechanical to pony up your hard earned money for.

Just throwing that in your ear to ponder. :D

Cheers

I can't argue with the Reo, especially if you drip.

BUT

Super T manufacturing makes mods that are even more beautiful inside than out. True works of art.

The exterior is minimalist, although with the brass rings it looks great.

The internals though.....fluted ports, hand machines screw heads, swirled vents, even the compartment sides are finished.

Look at the deck of their latest RBA:

RBABOTTOMINSIDE2x.jpg

It's my favorite mod by far. Not bad on price, either. Most are under $200

You can set it up as a hybrid or a 510 of course.

Button action is perfect, smooth, and progressive.

The slide lock button is my favorite. One of the reason I use this mech the most.

I have to agree with Chelonian! I own a Super T Precise Simplicity 18500 and it is wonderful.! Perfect threads, smooth button..and built like a tank the 18500 version is around $124, the 18650 slightly more.

The only objection you may have is that it is under 22mm...I run mine with a KFL + v2, and there is a slight over hang...with the heilos dripper...it fits perfect.

The GP Paps X was mentioned, and I have to say...GREAT mod...the shortest throw and smoothest button I have ever tried. My friend Cucco, who is a member here has the GP paps as well as nearly every recent Super T device... And it s a toss up between that and the Super T ELA....can't go wrong with either. Check out the super T forum in the vendor section... You'll see a pic of my set up and many more!

Where did you get the paps? I can't seem to track one down!

I got it on the last vapourday at vapourart.com. They usually have 2 days a month when they open the store. It gets announced in advance on this forum and on their website. The customer service is off the charts. You can also watch domovaporco.com and put your name on the list to get notified. Trust me, it's worth the minor hassle. Just search the Paps v3 on this forum and I would be shocked if you found anyone that had anything bad to stay about it.

honestly, if your buying authentic mods just to say you have one/ want to support USA businesses, than their absolutely no reason to buy an authentic. at least that's what i'm getting when you say "step it up" there are a plethora of "clones" that actually out perform originals. for instance the copper hades clone has a voltage drop of around .1 for $40-70 and the actual hades .4 for $220

if your searching for quality, then the stingray clone by infinite really can't be beat.

Doesn't the sting ray have a magnetic switch?

I just want something that is amazing quality that doesn't die in me for any reason!

With the reo grand can I use my drippers with that?

Yup.

Obviously you need a bottom feeder dripper to take advantage of the juice feed, but with an LP Reo you can put whatever topper you want on top and treat it like any other mech. I know a Reo user that still throws a Kayfun on top his LP Grand occasionally. (but why???)

Converting an existing RDA to a bottom feeder isn't much harder than drilling out your air hole. The simplest way to do it is to dremmel a channel in the side of the positive post of the atty. People are converting Atomics, Igo Ws, Patriots, Zeniths, Helios, whatever. I've converted a few cheapies from fasttech into bottom feeders to try them out.

Besides that, there are over a dozen or so RDAs that are factory made ready for bottom feed. No tinkering involved at all on your part, if that is a concern. Tinkering is fun though. :D

He didn't say anything about purchasing an authentic just to say he has one. He's looking to spend good money on a real mech and have it count/be worth it. He's researching it.

In the case of Super-T, Paps, or the Reo; no way a clone is better than what these master craftsmen dish out. The attention to detail is painfully obvious when you hold and vape one. I don't think there is even a clone of a Super-T, and I'm damn sure there isn't one of the Reo. Someone did a 3D printed plastic job a few months ago of a Reo, nice try. It was pathetic.

Thanks for all of the info. I do like the looks of the reo but I'm not sure I would enjoy it in my pocket all day. I'm constantly moving around and work and stuffing my pockets with tools and such, I work in data centers so I def can't have magnetic anything. I upgraded to magnets in my nemmy and deactivated my badge!! That was a pain to get a new one and my boss wasn't that happy.

How pocket friendly is the reo?

I'm really considering the paps now....that thing just looks dead sexy, heck and maybe I'll buy a reo for after work, $150 ain't too hard on the wallet!!

Quick question on the precise plus, is it easy to stand on end with that oddly shaped button??

That particular MOD doesn't exist.

The Akuma by GP Custom is a work of art. It has a spring, and, coincidentally, the best bottom button I've used. It's also, conveniently, right up there at that $200 mark.

The Reo is as pocket friendly as it gets. Weighs next to nothing. As you can see, smaller than a pack of smokes and that's with an 18650 battery in it. Keep in mind, there's 6ml of juice inside the mod, so no tanks protruding out. It's dripping with out having to drip. The thing is bullet proof, leak proof, and hassle free; it's the perfect mech for taking out with you on any job. Not to mention it means the end of "dripping and driving."

However, there are magnets in the door. You don't really need them though. All you have to do is slide the door down, and apply pressure to the window corner to give it a slight bend and the door stays put better than it does with the magnets in the first place.

Check out the Reo sub-forum. Reos Mods

The owner chimes in almost daily. He is in constant contact and listens to his customers to improve it. Just today, someone started a thread asking for a larger square bottle that'll make use of space inside more efficiently and hold at least 10ml of juice, and Rob (the maker) came in and basically said: "I'm game. Let's do it."

The whole concept of the SL Reo (SL stands for Super Light) was from a user PM'ing Rob. And now we have one.

Someone came up with an idea of air flow control for the RM2 RDA last fall (I believe pdib), and Rob prototyped a couple and we'll see it available for sale real soon.

Like I said, all in all the Reo is setting the bar for a great product and experience all around. If there ever was a clone, you'd still never get a Rob with it! :D

The Super T and Paps are crazy nice mechs though. I've seen and held both numerous times, and the quality and craftsmanship is worth every penny. I don't mess around with tube mods anymore though. Just a collection of Reos and a Hammer for me. I don't like the form factor of tubes, setting them down, pinky firing, locking them etc. Amazing how I no longer get my balls busted from non-vapers about how what I'm using looks like a cyborg's dildo.
:p

Cheers

Thanks alot Funk! So I'm assuming you prime the RDA by pushing in on the bottle through that little window there?

The chi you I am using now is absolutely hideous. My nemmy died and my friend had this one laying around so he let me use it. I am just so fed up with this. I figured out why the nemmy won't work last night. Seems the bottom pin is defective and doesn't always make a solid connection to the battery.

I swapped out the pins but now my kayfun 3.1 is stuck on the top cap....so I'm still kinda screwed with it, unless i want to constantly use the kayfun.

So someone was saying that the super t isn't 22mm. I can't seem to find out what size they actually are on their website? Does anyone know?

You can buy a different bottom cap to set it up to be able to be stood on its end.
I believe there is even a bottom cap for the sliding lock button.
The REO's are portable in size, but they lend themselves to tanks that are not easily used during the day without leaking, or the cap coming off in your pocket.
And personally, when i put a leakproof style of tank on it, much of the form factor was lost.
However, if you buy one, you wont be disapointed.
For portability, I would vote for the Super T.....although trying to choose between the two is downright unfair :)
