Hello all,

Went into a local tobacco shop two weeks ago and picked up a Halo Triton. I have really enjoyed it so far but am still trying to figure out how often I will need to clean it. It has been pretty overwhelming with how many different flavors and systems there are out. Having a community like this to get advice and reviews on has been very helpful and I look forward to becoming more apart of it.

I used a Halo Triton Starter Kit (two batteries and two tanks) for around 2½ months, but I usually only used one flavor so I just cleaned the tank after every 4th or 5th refill. However on the rare occasion when I did switch flavors, I would always clean the tank/coil (or replace the coil) before I put the new flavor in. Of course with some thicker/darker juices you might have to clean the tank/coil more often, as I've heard that they can gunk up the coil a lot quicker than thinner e-juices.

Oh and by the way, welcome to the site and congrats on making the switch to vaping :thumb: You will definitely learn a lot here, as there are some very knowledgeable and helpful members here

Hey Shanks, welcome to ECF!

I've never had a Halo system, but with the bottom-coil tanks I've used, I don't find cleaning the tank to be nearly as important as keeping the coil and wick clean and functional (if you use the same e-juice in it all the time). It took me about 2 wks on my first one to realize it would not last forever, that I would need to do something to it to keep it clean so it wouldn't taste bad. Since I've never had a Halo system, I can't advise you on the specifics of that, but I'm sure there are videos, there seems to be a video for pretty much anything you want to learn about these things. ;)

Welcome!
Andria

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I have been using their Tribeca flavor in one tank and haven't cleaned that one at all. I have done about 2-3 refills on that one. My other tank I have cleaned, when switching flavors, with hot water. I can taste a hint of the old flavor at first but since most of the flavors are similar it hasn't been a issue for me. Is the point of cleaning to make sure that no gunk buildup happens in the coil? Is cleaning the tank a big deal if I'll be using the same flavor?

I think the most important thing is the coil and wick. I just clean my tank with hot water, and sometimes let it dry completely, but not always. I also have never tried a Halo system, so I can't give much personal advice. I believe, that the condition of the wick and coil is a universal concern, because of the nature of the e-liquid. I have mini pro tanks, which have bottom coils. I just rebuild the coils with 32ga round Kanthal wire and cotton. Pretty easy to do. For Halo, I found this video when to change the coil.

And this one on rebuilding the Halo Triton coil.

Although on the 2nd one, at the end he twists the wires to get them through the head, but, make sure you untwist them BEFORE putting the rubber grommet on. And as he says in the video, ROUND Kanthal is easier to break off. You DON'T Want the Kanthol ends touching anything outside the atomizer head and wick.

I hope this helps.
