Wanting to upgrade.

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place or not, but I am looking to upgrade from my current set up. At the moment I have an itazte SVD and am looking for something more powerful. I have no preference between two or box mods, I'm not worried about the cost. Any input would be greatly appreciated thank you. Also any suggestions about tanks and heating elements… right now I have a Phiniac tank and him using standard single coil boge cartomizers. Is there something better out there that I could be using? Again, thank you for any input.

Well, the next step up would be a 30 watt mod like the vaporshark rDNA or any of the very similar DNA 30 devices. There are also some even higher wattage devices around, but all of them are brand new so nobody knows how they're going to hold up. The most direct upgrade from your carto tank would be a nautilus using the newer BVC coils. Beyond that quality your looking at rebuildables and a steeper learning curve.

Welcome to ECF, Celia.

Lets take this from the other direction. I assume you actually want a better vape... and you assume "more powerful" is the answer. Maybe... and maybe not so much.

"Standard" carto tanks are not a bad place to be, but... as more and more people discover every day, lower resistance can be more flavorful, and rebuildables can be the best way to get lower resistance.
The best way to learn about rebuildables is to visit the rebuildable atomizer sub-forum.

The - once and probable still - king of rebuildable tank atomizers (RTAs) is the SvoeMesto Kayfun Lite Plus (and by extension, the Kebo R91%)... although they do have stiff competition from many other US, European and even a few original Chinese designs.
I can rattle off several "names"... Taifun GT, sQuape R, Rose V2, GP Heron, Gus Estia and Erlkönigin - to name a few... but names don't mean much until you have some idea of what your level of involvement would be, if any. They all do the same thing... using slightly, to substantially different, methodologies.

An alternative, if rebuildables are not something you want to play with, are the recent crop of Kanger atomizers... because you can get replaceable resistance coil heads - in anything from the resistance you're familiar with, to much lower resistances, including sub-ohm.
A Kanger Aerotank Mega might be a good place to start... along with a selection of coil heads, in the range of resistances available, from 0.8Ω to 2.0Ω.
These, including the lower resistances, will work with your SVD ( just barely @ 15w/5a)... if you want to try the atomizer out first.

Now, to run (much) lower resistances, you will need a higher level of current output... it's all Ohm's Law.
In the past few months, the number of 30, 50, 100 and even 150 and 200 watt, high current APVs that have come out is staggering. Most are box, some are tube... so you do have a choice in form factor.
If you never intend to go below, say... 0.5Ω resistance, you don't really need anything more than 30-50 watts. With the exception of deep sub-ohmers... few really "need" more than 50 watts.
I'm not going to tell you what to buy here... but this vendor carries examples of both. Some are clones of more costly authentics... some are quasi-original, and all are Chinese in origin.
Speaking of more costly authentics - so we don't leave American ingenuity and quality out of the loop... here are a few US made, DNA30 powered, authentic APVs - the super popular Hana and the HoH ZNA-Lite.

look at joyetech evic surpreme with aspire nautilus tank and bvc coils, that's what I'm using at the moment and I don't think you get much better unless you use a rebuildable which should be fine to use on the evic as well as it is up to 30W

More flavor would be great. I'm tired of gambling with cartos, not knowing if it will be a bad one & have to go thru the whole process of punching and priming again.

I know nothing at all about rebuilding but I am super into tech stuff, for example, if anything electronic stops working I have this deep seeded need to open it up & see how it is broken & if I can fix it before just simply throwing it away. So I think maybe rebuilding would be a good option for me. I'll read the article on ECF then probably go to a class they teach about it at my local Vapor Kings. Thank you for that suggestion.

I do also want more power. However, I am just 5 months off of analogs & the same into vaping. So all of this is incredibly new to me. I probably know less than 1% of what all there is out there to know about vaping. I had never even heard of RTAs just RDAs and RBAs and I have no clue what they are. I know what the stand for, of course, but no clue what would be best for me or how they work at all! So I've got a LOT of reading up to do. Thank you, Flux for introducing me to all those options.

Dublin, those evic supremes look pretty awesome. I have considered buying an aspire naultilus before but I had just shelled out a bunch of money for a Phiniac so I couldn't justify the purchase to my husband. Oh and sorry if this is a stupid question but, what are bvc coils? Like I mentioned before I am a total noob!

Bvc is a bottom verical coil. Most of the new tanks use coil heads, which are basically an atomizer, usually they have a horizontal coil with a wick in them, and the heads are installed either in the top of the tank, or more commonly in newer tanks the bottom. So the bvc is a new coil design for the nautilus and nautilus mini that is installed in the bottom of the tank and has a heating coil positioned vertically with a ceramic wick wrapped around the outside rather than the more common horizontal coil with a wick running inside of it. They work really well, and any Vapor Kings should be able to tell you all about them. They are widely considered the very best tank available at the moment short of a rebuildable. I'd say the step up from there is a Kayfun of some type, they'll have those at VKs too, although the one I was in yesterday didn't have the Eleaf Lemo, which is looking to be the new king of the pile in Kayfun styles. I'd stay away from the Russian though, every Vapor Kings I've been inside had those right next to the authentic Kayfuns and IMHO nobody should waste $100 on a Chinese copy of a Kayfun.

Edit: oh, and the RBA, RTA, RDA and lets not forget RTDA. It gets confusing. Basically, RBA is the over all name for all of them, but in useage people usually mean RTA when they use it. There are currently Rebuildable Dripping Atomizers, Rebuildable Tank Atomizers, and the newest Rebuildable Tank Dripping Atomizers, but all of them are ReBuildable Atomizers.

Ok, now I have another question. Lol. How long does a typical build last when you make your own coils? I know with cartos it's typically 1-3 weeks. Although I've never had one last longer than a week. I'm sure interested in RTAs now!! I may even go with a rebuildable and a naultilus as well. Just try a bit of every option. I love tinkering with things.

Edit: In your opinion, or anyone's who happens to read this.. What would be the best rebuildable for a beginner? Or all they all the same? I'm mostly looking for what will provide the best and most flavor. But who isn't? Lol

A lot of it depends on your wicking material. You don't replace the whole build really, just remove a dirty wick, dry burn to clean the coils, and put a wick back in. Generally I do one to two weeks depending on how gunky the juice I'm using is, you can usually taste when it gets dirty. The coil can last months. That is using rayon wicking, cotton tends to need changed way more often, and silica even less often(you can dry burn silica with the coils).

If I were picking an RTA to start you with, I'd choose the Eleaf Lemo. It's a Kayfun style, single coil, with great airflow. Everything you need for a flavor machine, and easy to build. Lots of Kayfun build tutorials on YouTube.

I use a Stingray x mechanical with a magma atty. The magma is great on flavor and easy to build because there's only 2 posts. A large well that can hold up to 40 drops of juice (less dripping!) too. My friend has a Stillaire (sp?) and agrees that the magma has more flavor :O
