...if you become a hobbyist or spend a fortune chasing the elusive and non-existent "perfect" vape, you can spend considerable money...with 3 of us in my house, we were spending 500bux/mos on the funkarettes...I spent that in the first 2 weeks of vaping...since then we have spent around 100bux per month by just buying what we need and using BlueMistVaping for our juice instead of chasing all the so called "designer/gourmet" flavs...a little fiscal discipline can go a long way to making vaping a money saving venture.............

I've found PV's that I like & work well. I've found Juice that I like. I have backups for my backups. My hardware buying is done for awhile. I'll need replacements sooner or later, when that happens, I'll deal with it. I may upgrade, then. I'll have to buy more juice & cartomizers, etc. Trust me, I spent enough to get where I'm at, but the cost is going down. I have 3 or 4 months worth of juice that I like. I have 3 or 4 months worth of cartomizers that are more than adequate.

I also have a lot of juice that, well, is vapeable but not great & I have a lot of atomizers & carts & ego tanks/atomizers that I don't use. If times got bad I could vape for 3 or 4 more months without spending a dime. So I'm in pretty good shape.

P.S. When I started smoking cigs were $.25 - $.29 a pack & in the 70's in the Navy they were $2.40 a carton...even cheaper than the 60's.

In a galaxy far far away
Being a Washingtonian I was paying close to $9.00 a pack (camel lights) when I quit 20 days ago. As a PAD smoker and some quick math...$167 is what I would have spent on analogs in just 20 days. I picked up a Joye 510 kit for $50. I also have around $15 in clearomizers and another $80 or so in a dozen+ different juices....$145

Vaping my face off all day and still coming out ahead:)

And although I do plan on buying a Provari soon, a month later I will be back to even.

Money is not the issue for me, not smoking is. I spent twice as much a month on pills, patches, you name it unsuccessfully. I would gladly spend twice as much as I was spending on cigarettes vaping and ENJOYING it to finally be done with smoking.

Hello! This is my first post here, so be gentle! :)

There is a UK National Health Service iPhone app which tells you exactly how much you saved since you gave up smoking. I personally started on an E-Lite a couple of weeks ago, which was OK. But I found that the Cartos ran out rather quickly. I ordered some juice and refilled them, but still wasn't wholly satisfied with them so I took the plunge and bought a Riva 1100mAh Deluxe kit. Which is just 100% better.

So far I have saved £120 from not smoking analogues and have spent around £80 on everything I have, this includes 6, 5 mil bottles of juice (I can't decide what flavour I like, I'm tending towards menthols, but thought I'd try a few) and 2, 30 mil bottles, 1 E-Lite starter kit. (Their delivery times were so slow that I complained and they sent me another kit for free and 2 extra cartos - Bonus!)

Basically, the initial outlay is perhaps a little expensive, but I can see that it will definitely save me money in the long run. Most importantly, I have 100% given up analogues and can't ever see myself going back to them.

15 bucks a carton? Was that in the 1940s? There over 50 bucks now!

I also dont see how people arent saving money. 30ml of juice costs the same as 3 packs of cigs...those 3 packs lasted me 3 days...30mls last me much longer than that. Once a month I make a small hardware restock purchase (new carts mostly) and thats about it. No way does vaping cost me 6 bucks a day.

Also...you smoke cigars too...I have no idea what the cost differential is on that one.

In the UK 30 mils of juice is around £10 and a pack of cigarettes is nearly £8 - That's some savings

If you have just enough money and are good with it, you don't need to count the dollars spent.
If you have enough money, counting dollars won't mean anything because you can afford it.
But whether you have money for 1 mod or 1,000 mods, what you should be adding up is years to your life.
That's what's important.

My average cost to vape is 48 cents per day. That's counting cartos and 5ml of juice per day. If you diy, buy in bulk, and fight the urge to buy every new mod under the sun, then vaping isn't that expensive. Of course that 48 cents doesn't include what it costs me to charge my batteries...figuring out the other stuff was enough math for me.

I'm totally new to it, but being in an expensive tobacco state ($5-7/pack), and not a heavy smoker for the last couple years, it will be a couple months before I get break even on savings... but then I'll get ahead on it fast even with some new equipment and nic juice etc. Even if it were the same cost or more than smoking, I'm loving smelling good again and not feeling hung over (unless I really deserve to) every morning. If I lose control and spend more than I should on experimenting, so be it. In so many other ways, I'm still way ahead.

When I started smoking in the late 50s, you could buy a pack of Luckys for $0.22 out of the machine at the bowling alley. It took a quarter and the pack had three pennies slid down the side. In 64 at the Marine PX they were $2.00 a carton, buy the time I quit 13 months ago I was spending $360 a month on 9 cartons, 3PAD. I'm about $2200 ahead right now and I don't think I could spend enough on new shiny stuff to go in the hole at this point. Not to mention that I can breathe again and don't try to hack my lungs out on a daily basis.

I've been doing pretty well in the money department, but I'm pretty lazy about flavors - I liked the first couple that I tried so I'll stick with those. $100 in the first month and it looks like $20-30/month now afterwards... my old cigs were around $6 a pack and I was going through about six a week. I just hope I don't have to start replacing equipment anytime soon.

I used to pay $15 a carton and it would last me about 2 weeks... In the last 6 months I probably spent over 6 years worth of cigarettes

This made me think....In my 24 years of 1 ppd smoking I only bought 1 carton of smokes...honest.....cost me 14.xx and that was back in like the late 90's....I can't even tell you how many packs are in a carton....

I never bought cartons because I was always telling myself I was going to quit...you know, soon. Which of course happened rarely and never did last very long. I just didn't want to get stuck with a carton that I'd never use once I quit

Cigarettes are expensive here in Oz, even roll your own Tobacco- it will cost the average smoker here around 100 dollars or more per week, packet of cigs here 15/20 dollars per packet is average( and the Government has just put the price up again i'm told)
so a heavy smoker will go through around one 100 dollar carton per week or more-thats a hefty cost per year.
Now around a year no cigarettes thanks to the miraculous eCigs i just feel lucky. Yearly costs are just a few Hundred, much cheaper too because I diy juice which helps keep cost down a bit-
(Feel fantastic compared to when i was a smoker as well- Money cant buy that.)
