so here I am again, thank god for this forum. Still only been doing this about 3 months and trying to learn as I go, I just feel so lost...anyways

So I have the subox mini, I have a tobeco turbine deck, now I have .4 build on it but why do I bump my box up to say 43 watts, and it takes forever to heat up, so by the time it heats up, my box then shuts down because the temp is to high, so then I'm mad because I can't hit it for awhile!? I'm just so lost with this ohms law and the wire honestly , no matter what I can't seem to get it! So do I need a higher wattage mod!? Or how do I build coils, that will heat up faster, I'm one of those chain vapers so this whole thing of it shutting down isn't working..although thankful it does that as opposed to blowing up in my face...with my box only going to 50 watts I'm just not sure what to do, all I have on me is 24 gauge kanthal, should I try different and build different ohms, but how many wraps would that be, it's a dual deck but I can build single, I'm just not sure with already having a build on but not working to well lol what to do...thanks

Thank you, that's what I was thinking but needed it confirmed, I liked sub ohming, because when I first got the set up of course I had a .5 coil in the tank which works great in my tank at 23 watts but when I got the deck the guys at the shop built my coils at .4 and all good, but still had to bump up wattage, fine no biggie but now it's like hating me, they did try with 28,then 26 gauge and it kept snapping the minute he would tighten screws, but the 24 annoys me anyways , I wouldn't care if my mod was higher wattage and bumping it would be fine but until then just want to make this work, and I wouldn't mine trying different ohms either I'm used to sub ohming really

A big problem is your wire gauge. It's to thick, and it's slow to heat up. Get some 28 gauge and you can do this for a dual coil set up: 5 wraps on a 2mm screwdriver or bit will put you around .5 ohms.

For something like a single coil in my Subtank, I use 26 gauge 5 wraps on a 2mm screwdriver. That puts me at .5 ohms and the heat up time is pretty quick.

if your wires are being snipped by the screws, pull out the screws and look at the bottom. are they flat or are then conical? I have found that if my screws are conical the edge of the cone will snip thinner wire. I use a diamond knife sharpening stone to flatten the bottoms of the screw. just make sure that the screw will still seat fully into the post. I have an entire box of small hex head grub screw that I replace all the cap headed screw that come with my RDA's so that the cap never hits the top of the post preventing the screw from tightening down all the way onto the wire. In the past I had an RDA that the positive post was just a smidge to tall, and if I was building with anything less than 24G the screw cap would hit the top of the post and not allow the screw to make good tight contact with the wire. Grub screws eliminate this issue.
