I got my P+ 18500 last night and I'm absolutely loving it. Looking at it, I thought it would look spectacular with polished SS end caps. Oh, or brushed SS! I think this device looks great already, but that would take it over the top.

They can be polished if you have a buffer. My p-16 came with the new finish, but I am one of the oddballs that liked the old finish. About half an hour of buffing/polishing and I had the old finish. Of course, I'm sure that you could send it in to Dave and he'd do it for you. Not much fun in that though.
My custom PrecisePlus im giving away in the next drawing actually uses the polished caps/satin body theme!
I redid both my P+18350 and P+18500 to have the same finish as the original Precises. It only took about 10 to do each one.

Ok........I'm also one that prefers the Original Precise finish. Although I appreciate why the Precise Plus line has a different finish.
Now my husband is good with a buffing wheel (as he does the rims on my cars oh so nice)............but.........so, I too can have the Original Precise finish on my Precise Plus just by buffing it? I'm scared to mess with any of David's work.

I wish I had a buffer too! I don't have a whole bunch of tools so I actually had to go McGuyver on this. The whole process was pretty simple, and it's exactly what I would do to touch up my original Precises. All you really need is a drill and an old carto. I used a green Scotch Brite pad to remove the satin finish, then I went over the entire thing with sand paper (180 then 240 grit), and then I finished it off with a Cape Cod polishing pad. You could use successively higher grit sand paper to get a smoother finish, but I prefer the slightly textured finish of the 240 grit. It's almost identical to the original Precise finish!
One tip: Place a small oring on the connector end of the carto. This will prevent over-tightening of the carto.
@bmwjen: I agree, there's nothing wrong with the new finish. It's absolutely beautiful, but I know that there's a bunch of us out there that just love the original Precise finish.
ok, I had my husband polish mine to a high shine finish last night..........LOVE IT............looks awesome right beside all of my other shiny precises!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!

ok, from looking at the photos.........my husband has more buffing to do. The P+ 'just' isn't quite as shiny as my original Precises. She's still gorgeous though!
