Update:
As of March 25, T's son is still in the intensive care unit at the hospital. They took out his appendix, but that did not fix the problem. There are still some strange unknowns that several doctors are pining over, and they have taken some biopsies in an attempt to determine what the issue is. It seems to be a rather unusual problem which has alot of folks scratching their heads. Meanwhile, they can't even give T a reason yet as to why her son is in such great pain, and only one particular strong painkiller is all that brings him temporary relief.
T's internet access is extremely limited, and she does not even have access to her email. She was able to briefly visit ECF (but she is not actually able to post), and has read the very kind things that people have written here. She wanted me to let everyone know how grateful she is for all the nice words, and that such things mean a great deal to her. She is sick over the thought that orders are waiting, and the fact that she is getting WAY too little sleep and probably not eating properly certainly doesn't help. She seems happy with the medical staff's response to all this, but unfortunately, their combined knowledge has not yet solved the problem. She told me that she will give us more updates later.
Thanks again to all those who are expressing nice thoughts and sending positive vibes to T and her family. Thank you also for the patience you are all showing. I haven't gotten a single nasty email yet! I read a nice quote the other day that I think sums up how Ms T is feeling about you all:
When everything goes to hell, the people who stand by you without flinching -- they are your family.
