Ughhh! I just got a certified letter!

Apparently, the owner of the apartment complex is appealing the ruling and the letter says, 'The court cost for an appeal is $212.00. If you fail to pay the costs of this appeal within 20 days of the date of this letter, I shall return all papers in said cause to the Justice of Peace having original jurisdiction. The Justice of Peace shall proceed as though no appeal had been attempted'.

WT H does this mean? THEY OWE ME MONEY, my deposit! Why does it say I owe them? And if it's not paid then it's as if they didn't appeal? OMG! What is this freak doing?

Sheesh, I should counter sue this guy for my deposit, moving fees, lost wages, and mental stress!

3. 6/8 - I did yard work today, but not my own yard. I don't get paid to work on my yard, which I am putting off as well as some of you folks here. I have to deal with my yard tomorrow, I've put it off too long already.

I put my earnings in the bank an hour ago, now it's time to spend it. I don't like to leave money in my account for more than a couple of hours. Thieves and hackers can't take my money when my account is empty. That's my extremely inconvenient online shopping security method.

I agree with tiggerts. By the wording it sounds like the letter is to the landlord and if they don't pay $212 it will be as if there has been no appeal. Who was it sent by, the court or the landlord. What does the header say, is it directed to the landlord? It sounds like it is.

4. 6/8 - My bank must think I have a spending problem, if any human actually sees my transaction info. I deposit cash in the ATM, and spend it all within 2 hours.

@ Lisa- I'll go with everyone else on this, the letter you described sounds like a copy of what would be sent to your ex-landlord. Leave it to the legal system to be confusing whenever possible. This is why lawyers exist, and even they get it wrong a lot of the time. I've edited what was going to be a lengthy paragraph or two 6 times now, and I'll just wish you good luck and leave it at that.

Dear Lisa N. CentralTX'

According to rule 143A of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, I hereby give notice that an appeal from a lower court has been filed, to wit:

But T. Head Plaintiff vs

Lisa N. CentralTX Defendant

The court cost for an appeal is $212.00 blah, blah, what I said before... C/P -->'The court cost for an appeal is $212.00. If you fail to pay the costs of this appeal within 20 days of the date of this letter, I shall return all papers in said cause to the Justice of Peace having original jurisdiction. The Justice of Peace shall proceed as though no appeal had been attempted'.

Rule 143a. COSTS ON APPEAL TO COUNTY COURT

peace or small claims court within twenty (20) days after being notified to do so
by the county clerk, the appeal shall be deemed not perfected and the county clerk
shall return all papers in said cause to the justice of the peace having original
jurisdiction and the justice of the peace shall proceed as though no appeal had
been attempted.

5. 6/8 - Got out the shrink gun today, got my copper pipe mod down to 65mm tall (just over 2.5") using a 18350, including a shortstop for protection. Using a small rda, only the driptip sticks out of my closed hand.

@Lisa- If your landlord has to pay over $200 just to attempt an appeal, it's not going to be worth the money for them unless they're totally nuts or have a judge in their pocket (unlikely). I would still talk to someone in the courthouse.

appellant [əˈpɛlənt]
n
1. a person who appeals
2. (Law) Law the party who appeals to a higher court from the decision of a lower tribunal

Whether a party was a plaintiff or defendant in the lower court has no bearing on his or her status as an appellant.

The appellate level prefers to call the parties appellant - to the party who brings the appeal - and the respondent - to the party who must respond to the appeal.
You are the respondent.

chat- Now I need a short, 1" wide VVV tank with as close to copper colored endcaps as I can get. And a super short driptip, of course.

I went to the arts n' crafts stores today, and didn't see anything I would want to put on my mod. If you google image search for "copper steampunk mod" you'll find quite a few very long mods with gears and antique looking metal doodads attached on the outside. It's not really my thing, but I did find all those trinkets at Michael's. I'm considering gluing leather on it, for a variety of reasons.

Side note/question: Are there any USA made cartomizers? (besides Ciscospec)
