more bumps -

LD, do you need to draw the liquid in with the needle? I drop fluids in from the top with the plunger removed. If the liquid is thin enough to pour through, I hold the syringe with one finger plugging the luer-lock (needle attachment) hole. You're going to want a 1ml syringe and a couple more needle sizes at some point, it will make things much easier.

I need to pick up some 1mls, and you and Tish are right, i dont think i need the needle to draw up the base. i could use little medicine cups of base when the bottles are used below the length of the syringes. And ill try back loading/feeding the syringes as well, this might create more control and less waste, which is what im shooting for.

#3 When I am syringing VG, I don't use the needle. I just put the tip of the syringe, minus needle, straight into the VG. You can do the same for your PG and nic. But its not necessary since its thinner. I don't worry about the air in the syringe. I just look at the level of the liquid and compare it to the markings. Air in a syringe only matters when you are injecting it. Air is dangerous to inject into a vein, but not into a juice bottle. Plus, the air actually helps to get all the liquid from said syringe into your mix. And, yes, you want to make sure you're not contaminating your nic. To do this, I use a separate syringe for my nic. I also rinse out any syringe or dropper I am using with vodka in between liquids to avoid any contamination. Its real easy to screw up a whole bottle of flavoring, nic, PG or VG if you don't properly rinse your gear. Don't just rinse with water. Use vodka or PGA. Even if you are using glass equipment.
And, if you haven't yet, put scotch tape around the outside of your syringes to protect your measurement markings. They will disappear on you before you know it, and then you have a syringe thats only good for filling carto tanks.

tape the markings, great idea. i think GaMtnGrl suggested that as well. last night i only used water to rinse, i gave isopropyl, but not pga or vodka. might be easier to runs a couple or three syringes at once instead of cleaning in-between each new bottle.
i think a good game plan might be for me to mix 2-4 bottles of nic, pg, vg at once to desired levels and add the flavorings last, i would just leave myself 10-15% room for flavorings.
next question for TPAs Juicy Peach, should i add anything to it, the sour, sweetener, the maltol?), or koolada?

Here's one a vaping noob, but chemistry nerd can help with...

You don't have to take the air out to get an accurate measurement, as long as; 1) you don't have a bunch of tiny bubbles, and 2) you aren't looking for the maximum measurable volume of the syringe.

Fill ~ what you think you need, invert the syringe then pull the plunger till the minis us on top is at an an indicator level. Subtract that number from the volume number of the plunger. If you have too much, invert and slowly push out that extra volume (should be the same ~push as there is extra) then check by inverting and follow original measurement procedure.

It's not the world's easiest process, but if done right can be extremely accurate.

thanks Jack! This is close to what i was doing, but with improved technique. by leaving the air, and not using a needle, if/when i overfill, i can place over the bottle w/out needle, and depress the plunger the exact amount i need to remove.

Hope everyones afternoon was better than mine, went to help my Nana and ended up face to face with a huge wasps nest and yep you guessed it, i must have been stung over 30-40 times, they wouldn't give up on me... I hate wasps, they sting hard and over and over again, and the best part is all the bruising and pulsating pain is just getting worse... So im off for a while, ill BBL for the normal chit chat tonight..

Gosh Natey... that just plain sucks.... sorry to hear those wasps got you so bad... Thankfully if you were typing that post you obviously are not allergic... anaphylactic shock is a scary thing.... Between poison oak, wasps.. and detours on route 147... I'm glad I'm hiding out in the Quiet Corner...

What's wrong with using 90% ethyl( rubbing )alcohol instead of wasting booze? It evaporates as cleanly as PGA and more cleanly than all but the best (who'd want to waste Belvedere?) vodka...

I agree... I just make sure its all evaporated/ dry burned on anything I happen to clean, soak or wipe with rubbing alcohol....

#4 I use vodka to clean my e-cig stuff because I can taste the isopropyl in my attys, even after it has been evaporated. Maybe its psychological, but it doesn't taste very good to me.
LD, you know you can hit me up any time with questions about DIY. Lemon juice in any fruit mixture will brighten the flavors. As for what else you should add, you just have to experiment and find out what you like. Be gentle with the sweetener if you use it. Its very potent. Tart and Sour is also great stuff, and coolada is nice too, but also very potent. Just try stuff. Thats the beauty of DIY. You don't know until you invent it. Also, I recommend starting with mixing very small amounts (like 1 or 2ml) without nic purely for flavor experimentation. That way, you get to play with the flavors without worrying about wasting much of your supplies.

If you are looking for a cleaning solvent for gear you might be inhaling from, stick with 95% PGA. Isopropyl is just plain nasty; the ethyl alcohol you buy at the pharmacy is denatured - they use something nasty to poison it. Don't know if it evaps off, but don't want to find out the hard way. PGA, or vodka in a pinch, is safe.
