OK... that is still beastly wattage! Most of my juices don't taste very good over~9w (assuming my winder battle is even close to accurate).
The claim on the EHpre EA clone is ~0.03v drop (according to Tish's bro and unless that was a typo on his part).

I think my ignorance is showing again...
If that's a ~0.03v drop under no load at all then it makes perfect sense. Voltage drop without an atty attached should be extremely low. The resistance of the mod by itself without a battery or atty would be much more useful to know than it's voltage drop, but that's not nearly as easy to test. Most folks don't know what these numbers mean anyways. V-drop with a sub-ohm coil is usually pretty high, but with a SR carto it's extremely low. I see folks claiming v-drop numbers without listing the resistance of the atty all the time. As long as the mod is safe to use all this v-drop stuff isn't all that important. Meaningless waste of time, cloud chasing...

I won't use a battery right off the charger in my mechs. Always burnination. Usually let them sit a day.

But I have no trouble going straight from the charger to my Vamo though....
I let my batteries sit for a couple of hours before and after charging. It's not that they lose any charge, that can take weeks or months. I read that they last longer (more cycles) if they get to sit without use before and after charging. That kind of experiment would take months to run, so I'm just going by what I read. It can't hurt.

Be careful - relatives will screw you over more than strangers sometimes. Mechanics, especially...and I say that having a family full of them. I got tires one time and the shop tried to tell me that I needed new brakes and cylinders and rotors...it was going to be $600. I thanked them for the information and left - didn't bother to tell them that I do all my own work on my vehicles and I knew what my brake system was like. The only thing it needed was pads and one rotor was a little worn/grooved. New pad and rotors < $100 with less than an hour labor - don't know where they pulled that other $400+ from, but I know I'm not stupid enough to pay it. My dad (former mechanic) had the opportunity to talk to the shop owner later that week and let him in on who I was and what I thought about their suggested service. Guy was a little flustered/embarassed, to say the least.

It's nice to have a good mechanic in the family, jpf =] I've had a good mechanic before, the husband of one of my co-workers. His dad and brother and he had a shop together. After the dad died the remaining sons lost everything. Now he goes job to job because he dislikes most of the underhanded practices he sees in the shops... I feel for him...

Good morning fellow vapers. Just got enough coffee in me to get my fingers working. Not well but at least they are responding to brain signals eventually. Hope all is well in your worlds.

BTW, is the 1000 post thing an informal type of milestone or does it have a special significance in this thread?

I was going to say some of the same things about brake jobs and mechanics. I find that about $20 in parts and an hours of labor is all most brake jobs require. Especially if they are changed before there is damage to rotors. Of course, there are times when master cylinders etc. just have to be replaced, but not as often as the shops seem to think and never at the cost they quote. I never get brakes at a shop. It is home to hubby and a real mechanic's opinion. They are one of the easier "shade tree mechanic" repairs and take so little time.

It used to be that the contest threads could have no more than 1000 posts. Once it hit 1000 the contest had to end, so we were more careful about wasting entries with a lot of chat. Now we are allowed 2000 posts so we are able to keep up with each other by chatting without fear of ruining the contest.

New front brake pads and rotors, and oil change $160. Not to bad considering the parts would've cost me $110 at auto zone without the oil and filter!

My wife just got taken for a ride with the same work, no rotors, at the same price. I tried to tell her to tell the guy to flip off but she doesn't know how to deal with criminals

Yeah, Glow - I'm one of those shadetree guys, but only on my own stuff and my in-laws stuff. I really thought it was hilarious when the mechanic used a small-bladed screwdriver to pry the edge of my seals and said, "See? You got leaks. We need to replace all that." The whole time I was thinking - stop poking holes in my stuff or you WILL be replacing it for FREE. I park on a concrete garage - pretty obvious if you have something leaking, besides the fact that I had already had it up on the rack a week or two earlier changing my oil and inspecting stuff.

Thanks for that. I could swear that JPF and Strider's post were AFTER my #4 just a minute ago before I updated.

It does that some times, refreshes at its own leisure. I would love to meet one of those "reputable" mechanics some day, but low I believe them to be myth. I have a better chance of being turned to stone by a weeping angel.

3. 8/13 - I've done some brief investigating on Factor52. I can't do a proper quote of his last post since the thread was closed but here it is... "Being afraid to speak ones mind makes it so not worth it anymore... " That's not a good sign, and the cause of that post has been resolved (for the most part). That was 2 weeks ago, although he did log in 3 days ago for whatever reason.

Steve hasn't posted in this thread yet, or anywhere at all in 4 days. I hope those guys are alright.

I think I drove sbdivemaster completely out of the VVV contests, but that's only an assumption. If so, I deeply regret it. Humble apologies...

Now for something completely different...

For those with tons of cash and no humility at all...

Snhnarph you could do something like this..... Only better.....
