#3 LD, I am not really a sub-ohm vaper, so to speak. Once a coil goes below .9, the vapor is too warm for me. I usually build my coils just below where my regulated mods will fire, at approximately 1.2 to 1.0 ohms. I use 30 gauge kanthal and doubled over (I don't do the triple over that Luis showed us at the tutorial) 2mm silica. 5 wraps. Sometimes I use cotton, depending on my mood. I have also used cotton and silica together, especially when rebuilding Nova wicks. I use compact/micro coils when building for my regulated mods. I would be happy to get together with you sometime and talk rebuilding, although I can't help you with the Ithaka. That's better left to the more advanced rebuilders in the vape group. :)

LD a 1 ohm coil will sing on the ea mod. I made a beautiful 1ohm the other day. Built it the way you'd build a micro coil but obviously with less wraps then one. I'll need some 26 gauge first before I go full micro. 29 gauge and micro give me too many ohms.

I think I have determined that I have an allergy to something in one of my e-juices. I have a flair up in my nostrils... they are very painful especially to touch, and I have broken out a bit. It is either the flavorings they are using in the Volcano juices, or it's a PG sensitivity. Most of the stuff I have used up to date have been all VG.

You know come to think of it... after about 4 months of vaping I think I had some trouble too... That is mostly why I came to ECF... to see what happens to others.... it was hard to say why...if it was because the body is no longer getting any of the bad stuff from tobacco, or something in the juice....at that time I was vaping 6-8 different flavors from different companies.... I never really did narrow it down... I just know it's best for me to keep with the same vendor & flavor for several weeks to see if it's going to work.... The problems don't happen over night......and they don't go away quickly either...

I noticed the problems a few weeks back when I first used one of the Volcano juices, and then i stopped using them for a couple weeks and all the symptoms went away. I used one again a couple days ago, and all of the same exact symptoms are back. I'm fairly certain it is one of the Volcano juices, but I'm not sure if it's their flavorings or the PG. I am hoping it isn't an out-right PG allergy... i just bought a ton of juice at 65/35.

To be shamefully honest, i have barely used it. I feel like i need a improve my set up to use it. Rewrap my Ithaka and Igo-l, then i feel it will get use. I am gonna go dual coil in the Ithaka and around 1.3ohm on the Igo. i just havent figured out how to best use a mech yet, and i am a bit saddened by that.
[suggestions/direction warmly welcomed]

I tried putting in the kick, and it wasnt satisfactory.
hopefully with new wraps ill be ready to kick some ....
The Kick or Kick clone (unless it's a Kick 2 @ 15watts or SmokTech Kick @ 12 watts) is going to make your 1.3 ohm coil run like a battery with 3.6 volts. 1.3 ohms at 10 watts = 3.6 volts. If I had a 1.3 ohm coil and the battery was at 3.6 volts I would put in a fully charged battery (4.2 volts). IMO, the advantage of a Kick is having a set wattage, which works best for ~2 ohm (or higher) cartomizers and clearos.

I am also discovering it may not be the pg/vg ratio..it might be the flavorings or the brand of pg/vg... There are so many complications to this that I can't even begin to explain it... I have been vaping some plain sweetened & unsweetened and at first they were working great... but after a week of only them I am getting the same problems....

That's a major bummer, I know the pain. Not the physical pain, but having a whole bunch of e-liquid that you can't use. Can you send and receive things like e-liquid where you are right now? You may be able to sell, trade, or PIF the liquid you can't use, even the open bottles.

I would like that :)
Tonight, if i can get the time alone (not easy these days) i will rebuild both. I just ordered some 30g wire, but will use what i have (an unknown gauge) to try and reach 1-1.3ohm. I want to love the mech, and am willing to put forth the effort to make her love me back
I have a few feet of 2mm silica that i just got as well
For the ithaka, i have a setup i am going to try to emulate that should put it at a .9ohm dual coil. wish me luch with that one, conceptually i understand it, but in application we'll see. i guess i'll prob youtube my inquiries while i am workin it.

thats what i want, a choir of epic proportions!!

and (i didnt quote it) give your dog a bone! :)

thanks for that, i was wondering if it could be used effectively and now i know i should forgo it. when i use a VVV tank i find that with the kick it works great in the k100, ill have to give it a try in the EA. Its such a handsome device and needs some lovin

Warning! Rebuildable lingo incoming!

LD, you are aware that the Ithaka will require NR-R-NR coils? You can twist them up yourself if you have some silver or Ni200 wire, but I would suggest getting some that are already zapped and ready to go. You can find them in a variety of ohms, for .9 dual you can get some 1.8 ohm NR-R-NR in packs of 50 for ~$9 +/- $1 depending on the source. Good luck with that, PM me if you need help finding it. If you want to try twisting them yourself I will send you all the 32 gauge Ni200 you want for free as I have waaaay too much (250ft).

I recently ordered 26 and 28 gauge Kanthal... I'll have 26,27,28,29,30, and 32 when it gets here, as well as 0.4, 0.5, and 0.8 ribbon. If someone needs to "try" a few feet of it, I can send a sample (free!). If my PM box gets flooded I will have to retract the offer... :p
