Weird ohm readings on Nautilus X Coil

This has happened a couple of times and I know that duds will eventually pop up, so I've accepted that. I suppose I'm just wondering why this happens and if there's something I can do about it.

So I put in a new coil yesterday. I use a Nautilus X with a 30-watt Eleaf iStick. I keep my wattage at 17 and the coils generally last two or three weeks. Most of my e-juice is not high VG. I ALWAYS prime my coils. But on occasion, I'll be happily puffing away for about a day or two, then the ohm meter (on a 1.5 ohm coil) starts reading between 1.3 and 1.7 and tastes burnt for maybe one hit, then it goes back to normal. Then I accidentally knocked it over on its side, the ohm meter read 2.4, and that sucker was down for the count.

So friends, is this a manufacturer's dud or did I do something silly?

A change of a tenth or two is not a concern. A jump from 1.5 to 2.4 would indicate a loose connection, could be the coil head is loose, coil wire loose or the 510 threaded connections between the tank and mod. Keep the 510 connections clean with alcohol.

I might be off here but you could try running it in Voltage mode? If the ohms jump up it will bring the wattage down.

Wattage mod will adjust the voltage to give you a similar vape with different resistances.

I guess my thinking was that locking voltage would bring the power down instead of frying the coil during an ohm jump up. Downside being if ohms jump down applied wattage will be greater... so it's kind of a wash.
