weird taste? joye510 please give some help :)

Hey all,
So iv been using my joye510 from e-smokeytreats for the last 3 days. I'm pretty impressed with my first e-cig purchase. But I do have a couple questions and I'm hopeing someone has already figured this out.
Here it goes.
First off. I have the joye 510 from e-smokey treats. And it came with 5 med nig tobacco flavored carts. And I also picked up some "ultra" 36mg vanilla nic juice. Iv been topping off the tobacco flavored carts with the vanilla nic juice.


So here's what iv run into.

1) the vapor tastes and smells like a fog machine smoke. Its almost like I'm smoking chemicals and I'm going to die from it haha. No but seriously. I'm not sure if its just the taste of the vanilla or the tabacco or mixing them together. Or that its cus its a high 36mg nic juice. But it is very unpleasent and harsh. Never the less. I still smoke it. And havnt has a normal ciggy I'm looking for a hookah kinda taste. Passion fruit. Or watermellon. Somthing that tastes maybe more like candy. I hate normal cigs. I use to smoke dajarum blacks. Which taste like black cherry. So if there is somthing comperable to that then that would work. Any segestions?

2) it seems that the atomizer gets pretty hot to the touch. I don't know how

hot I can make it before burning it up or doing harm. But is the atomizer normally warm/hot or is that bad? I usually press the man swich for a second. Then drag for about 4-5 seconds.

3) how long should I be using a cart for topping off until its time to switch to a new one?

4) I seem to get a great throat hit from it. Which I like. But it feels like I have a golf ball stuck in the back of my throat after hitting it a few times. Is this normal? It seems to go away after I drink somthing. But still. Normal?

And last 4) I know that the 510 is a mini right? So if I go for a pen style? What is going to be different between the two? Less harsh hit? Beter flavor? Nothing at all?

I'm no expert, but from what i have been reading about the 510, it is supposed to taste more 'plastic' than the rest, because the atomizer has 4 holes, instead of the 2 holes on the 401, or 1 hole for the 901.

I've had no issue with a "plastic" taste from the 510. In fact, it really accentuates the flavor more so than my 901 or 801 ever did.

My guess is it's probably the mixing of the two. Tobacco has a more rugged taste and I just couldn't imagine it mixing well with Vanilla. I'd suggest you just smoke all the tobacco juice out of one of your carts and not until it's completely empty, try the vanilla.

I have noticed that with all of my ecigs once the flavor runs out and the vapor is thinning (low liquid) it begins tasting like fog machine.

One other possibility is that you're still tasting the remnants of primer fluid on your atomizer. Sometimes they really soak them in it.

Mixing different flavors could produce 'odd' tastes and some taste a plastic/rubber in some versions of RY4.

No problemo. We're all learning here... I was actually wondering if the 4 hole attys give a smoother draw. Seems like they would....

DCMagic, with my 510 (yeti) I get a slight plastic (funny) taste when my cart is too dry and I need to top off. Others have reported a weird (plastic, chemical, etc.) taste when some of their stuffing or cart filling gets stuck on the atty, which is usually caused by the stuffing being too far forward in the cart and/or being too dry.

My first suggestion would be to top off your cart frequently. More frequently than you really think you should have to. Do this until you're more familiar with your PV and can better judge when it needs juice. When you're learning to use it, I've found its best to keep the cart a little extra moist.

If that doesn't help, I would try pushing the stuffing back in the cart a little so when you take the cart off and look at it, the stuffing isn't resting even with the top of the cart, but back 1/8 of an inch or so. Sometimes this can help keep the stuffing from sticking to the atty and burning.

There is also a terrific straw in the cart mod that I use and I very very rarely get any funny taste with my Yeti using the straw. You can find it on the 510 forum.

I agree with the others that mixing vanilla and tobacco flavors probably isn't helping at all. If it were me, I would sacrifice one of the tobacco carts you've vaped already and make it a vanilla cart.

Pull the stuffing out of the cart completely, rinse the stuffing under water, dry it out with a paper towel. Drop a few drops (4 or 5) of vanilla in the empty cart, then put the clean stuffing in and continuing filling with juice until the stuffing is nice and moist.

Then you'll have a full flavored vanilla cart. If that one tastes good to you, you'll know it was the mixture of the flavors that was the problem.

It could definitely be the primer too in which case you can just wait until you've cleared all the primer out by vaping or you can clean your atty, but I'll let someone else advise you how best to clean it.

DcMagic I`m not sure if you`re located in DC but if you do DC is my favorite #1 city ever. I miss it so much.

the 510 is a kind of weird device. The taste should get better within a few days. Try to keep your cart moist at all times.

It is a juice monster. I add liquid every 10-12 puffs. No matter if I drip or top up. I have not tried the straw method yet though.

You made a good choice anyway

Ahh, I remember that fog machine taste with an Npro. Had the vanilla cart in it. I think it's the high nic vanilla.. Seems like a lot the vanilla flavors are not the sweet vanilla icecream most people think about.

yep I have been have this happen tp me the 510 having that weird taste to it I have only had my 510 joye from 3 days now on the second day it started to taste like chemicals or something on the seconed day but today its gone and I hope it stays gone
the cart in my in 36mg tabacco so it not ony vinilla I asume its the addy breaking in.
