Have you noticed a change in your sense of smell yet... two weeks in... good job. The first few weeks are the hardest.
They can be. For me it was an instantaneous switch -- I just seemed to take it like a duck to water, minus the incessant quacking. But everyone goes through it in a slightly different way, both in how they take to it, how they use it, and how their health and senses change over time.
For me, the sense of smell didn't exactly return like gangbusters, but after the first week the one smell I became acutely, intensely aware of, was cigarette smoke. I could smell someone smoking at the other end of a parking lot if I was downwind. I could never do that before.
You'll probably go through a period where you can't taste your E-liquids for a while, too. Some do, some don't, and for those that do it can last two to five days, but when it comes back you'll notice things taste a lot brighter on a more permanent basis.
There's lots to look forward to -- not all of it entirely pleasant, but it's all working towards the ultimate goal of getting your lung capacity back, your senses of taste and smell back, the loss of constant clearing of your throat, coughing, etc. Plus exploring alll the myriad flavours out there, and even the different hardware if you're so inclined.
It can be a lot of fun.
