So, I recently acquired a Reo Mini(14500). The gentleman also sent me away with a battery for it, but I have no idea what the specs of this battery are, and google-fu returns about 8 different potential results for this "Trustfire Gray with PCB, 900 mah" Battery that I have. I'm loathe to throw it on my Nitecore i4 for fear that the charging current is too high.

So, what 14500s do you use? I'm mainly interested in unprotected as long as the amp limit and charging current are specified.

Thanks in advance!

I frequently hang out there(actually have a tab with the Reos mods forum open right now), and I actually thought I had posted this there, but oops, I didn't.

AW is the obvious dependable choice, was just curious if there were other contender batteries like the Orbtronic for 18650s that were available, only in 14500 mode. Guessing not. Oh well, thanks!

If it's a Rev. 2 Nitecore your 900 mAh will be fine. If it's a Rev. 1 I wouldn't do it. What does it say the charging current is on the back plate of the charger?

There's no obvious markings as to whether it's a Rev 2 or Rev 1. Output current is listed as .375Ax4 or .75Ax2

I'm had an inkling that I was safe to charge this the whole time due to charge current being less than the capacity of the battery, but inklings/assumptions with batteries are things that tend to blow up your house.

Nope - you never want to inkle your batteries. lol

You have a Rev. 2 charger. See here => Difference between Sysmax charger V1 and V2

That will be fine for 900 mAh batteries.

FWIW I use protected Trustfire 900 mAh's in a VariCool box mod and these have worked great. It's what came with the Varicool box when I got it but I've been purchasing them direct from China with no issues. => TrustFire Protected 14500 3.7V 900mAh Rechargeable Lithium Batteries (2-Pack) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

I started getting these before IMR became the new "it". Some of them are nearly 2 years old - still working.

Dufftime, while I'm sure there are good 14500 batts in more than one design, the maker of REO mods himself has stated (and you will find this in the reo mods library) that he built the reo to work speciifcallly with the AW brand IMR batts, button tops.

So, that is what you should use in your reo === they fit best without over collapsing the spring, and the firing pin hits those button tops perfectly.

I always go with the vendor suggested batts.....and in this case, the vendor is also the actual mod maker. So AW IMRs it is, for me, in all my REOs!
