I think you may be able to do it now or at 20 posts, I am not sure. When you can, just right click on a signature you like, maybe mine and will bring up a form to fill out, fill it out and it will bring up the code, copy and paste it into your profile under edit signature.
The banner at the bottom of my post is a signature, you can also put your name or a saying but I have the banner with my smoking status.
