Just got my 510-T system and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I've only had it for a week and it is my first experience at vaping. I ordered 2 starter kits, and I find myself constantly swapping batteries. One of my batteries has refused to charge since the first time I charged it, and another one only charges if I screw it in to the point of almost breaking the charger. I have been reduced from 4 atomizers to one. The first two lasted 2-3 days before they stopped producing any flavour except of burning plastic. The third one didn't even last a day before it started tasting nasty. My theory is not enough juice is getting onto the atty. I don't know if the tank system just sucks or because all my tanks are failing because I have been putting juice in all of them to test all my new flavours, so they just sit there with juice in them. I tried washing out the tanks, washing the atties, soakin them, dry burning them and blowing them out and nothing seems to work. I only have one atty left, and Ive been forced to yank the wick out of another to drip it.

All in all I am completely fustrated, but can't bring myself to pick up smoking again. If anyone could recommend me something that is:

-Canadian
-Affordable (30-50$)
-Reliable
-Durable
-Little defective quirks
-Decent Flavor and Vapor production
-I am also open to box mods or feeders, anything as long as it is fairly discreet and portable.
-I just need something that won't break, or if it has to break, it's at least more predictable and manageable
-Is used by enough people that it has a good customer base so I can easily and quickly find answers to the questions I need.

Thank you

p.s, I'm also only a week into vaping, so please don't just list off w.e system you are currently rocking.

I never had much success in the long term with the 510-T model - I loved it for the first couple of days and then just as is happening to you, the performance started dropping off, they wouldn't wick properly and ultimately I'd end up removing the plate and wick and just drip them to death.

Battery wise if you're looking for something along the lines of the 510 you might want to check out the 808 kits Canvape is selling. They come in a few different configurations: manual/automatic 280mAh/380mAh and best of all they're true 3.7V batteries so you'll get a much better vaping experience. They come with cartomizers as well, which I'm sure you know by now are atomizers with a filler inside to absorb the juice until it's ready to be vaped by the coil. If you liked the 510-T because of the convenience of not having to constantly drip this might be your best bet for now.

Price wise Canvape has a few starter kits running from $18.95-$54.95

Congrats on your one week of being smoke free! I'm personally going on my 3rd week of being vape free, but I can't quit browsing ECF just yet :)

Forget Ego, and Ego-C tanks all together, there pure junk in my opinion, I just even got a new Ego-C and it is trash, cant believe after all this time there still even producing this garbaige ! Grab yourself a nice VV unit like a Provari or the cheaper Lava tube, or if you really want top nothc the Darwin, any Carto or Atty you toss a top of these Mods will rock your world in vapor, as for a bottom feeder wait for the Reo VV it will be a really nice set up. I've had em all, Just my 2c worth

I vote for cartomizers and you might want to add a 306 dripper atty and a drip tip.

The tank doesn't like high VG content due to thickness. I don't think you said what you are vaping. If it's VG or more than 40% VG, that might be the problem. The wicking system in the tanks is designed for thinner liquids. 100% PG down to 70% pg/30% vg will work fine. Instead of a cottony polyfill medium, the tank uses a silica rope style wick. Those don't get the juice down to the coil unless it's thin enough. You can try standing the ecig on the battery end to aid the juice in soaking into the wick between vapes. Hit it a few times, stand it up, and wait a few minutes before hitting it again. If that helps some, the problem is thick juice. You can take the worst tanks apart and clean the wick, but you run the risk of destroying one in the process. I've had to sacrifice one tank to put a good wick in the other! If you are careful, you won't be likely to ruin the wick. If you were going to junk it, it's worth a try to save the ones you can.

This video is from Vicki at Cignot. She demonstrates cleaning the eGo tank atty.

While you are waiting for some thinner juices to arrive, you can try thinning your juices a little by adding PGA (pure grain alcohol, the clear kind you drink). Some suppliers sell small bottles of PGA or you can sneak some from a bottle you already have. Someone here can tell you how much to add. I'm a 70/30 vaper and don't add anything to thin my juices.

Hi Tony!
FVxh8.gif
Belated welcome to the forum, & congrats on making one of the best choices of your life: to make the switch from smoking to vaping! It's good to be free. OK so let's see what we can do to help you with the issues so far.

---

THE "-T" ATOMIZERS

OK so you're new to vaping...and not loving the 510-T tank attys. You're not alone. A lot of people hate those. It's not the batt...and it's certainly not your fault. It's the tank attys to blame. Yeah yeah, people say they're convenient to fill...but that doesn't matter much if it doesn't vape well and/or tastes awful, right? I've never personally used any "-T" tank atomizers. I remember being skeptical when I first heard of them. Then I saw a bunch of people saying "blagh, these wick terribly & taste awful" and thought "ahh OK...forget that crap" lol.

So you want a simple newbie-friendly alternative to these tank-things, that can be found in Canada. No problem.

I know where you're coming from. When I was new, I also began with the Joye 510 batts. But I did not get atomizers. Even the most experienced & avid fan of 'em will tell you...atomizers have a learning curve, & issues that don't magically vanish with maturity. You can know 'em inside & out, and regardless...atomizers can be very fussy & fiddly & messy & different & on & on. Funny taste & leaking & so forth. Attys are pricier too. I did not want the host of issues that atomizers bring. Didn't want a lot of fiddling.

As a newbie, I knew I wanted something that:

- looked like a cig
- was an affordable but quality product
- was simple to use
- worked consistently, & worked well

So on those counts, atomizers weren't calling out my name. Cartomizers were. Cartomizers are a cartridge + atomizer all rolled into one...and somehow, they become more than the sum of their parts. I have used these - Boge 510 cartomizers, specifically - happily on every e-cig model that I've had, from my first day to the present. From the Joye 510, to the Mega eGo, to the ProVari. From day 1 as a newbie, I found them extremely user-friendly, simple, and they performed exactly how I was hoping they would. I love 'em!

1) They're very simple to use, fill & refill as needed: a minute or two of your time, then you're vaping for hours. No dripping, no messing around, just vaping. 2) They're affordable: a pak of five cartomizers typically goes for somewhere between $6.50 to $10 in Canada. But just one atomizer is usually more than $10. 3) They're consistent: all you need to do is keep your carto reasonably wet...and you can just tell when it's getting to that point where it could use a refill. The flavour & vapour production will go down a bit. You're never going to get a plastic taste etc from your Boge cartos. The body on 'em is metal, not plastic. And you really have to vape a carto like super-dry in order to actually burn & ruin it. Keep 'em wet & all you'll ever get is vapourized e-juice.

---

Now I know you're on a budget, so tell you what Tony. If you'd like to give cartomizers a try...just send me a PM with your mailing address OK? We will send you a free pak of 510-threaded Boge cartos, which will fit on your current batts. I'm not a vendor - I'm just a vaper like you. But that's what we're all about here: sharing & helping. So just let me know, k?

You're probably thinking "OK but where can I get them?" Virtually every vendor in Canada has Boge cartomizers...so no worries. The best current price on standard-resistance Boge cartos is at CanVape - $7 for a five-pak. The best current price on low-resistance Boge cartos is at Phat Clouds - $13 for two five-paks (i.e. $6.50 for a five-pak). Links below:

BATTERY LIFE

OK so one more thing. You said your batts are constantly being swapped out, i.e. ...the battery life on your 510s suck.

This is so. It's a fact of life with 510 batts, because there is only so much battery life that can fit in such a tiny model. With a new 510 batt, you should expect around 2 hours of life...maybe 2 and a half, but I would say 2. Approximate 1 hour to recharge. Which means you have to have at least two batts, so that you can use one while the other charges. You can also expect around 200 charges from a 510 batt before it is essentially ready to die. It may still work at that point...but probably not very well.

A lot of newbies do love the 510 for, you know...helping them to get started & make the switch. It certainly helped me that way, back when. But its terribly short battery life & low voltage are two of the main reasons that it is only a stepping stone. Very few people stay with the 510 for the long-term.

I would recommend getting an eGo or a Mega eGo. Price is super-affordable - they're available in Canada - they have a 510 threading - & the battery life is way higher than what you have now.

Compare: your 510-T batts are 180 mAh (mAh stands for milliampere hours...which doesn't matter, all you need to know is that it basically refers to how long the batt will last before you need to recharge). Alternatively, a standard eGo batt has 650 mAh. The Mega eGo has 900 mAh. Some newer ones such as the passthrough model in the link below are 1000 mAh. Here's some links to Happy Vaper, a vendor here in the GTA:

You see? No need to get a starter kit. As you can see at the links...the eGo doesn't 'look' like a cig. But trust me, you don't need it to look like one. It's fairly small...you could fit it in your pocket, easy. So yay.

Understand that the eGo isn't gonna be the love-of-your-life model for the ages either, lol. It too is an intermediary stepping stone for most vapers. But it will give you a far better battery life & vaping experience than the 510, for a very affordable price. It will give you what you need for now...while you take your time considering mods. Especially if you use 'em with the Boge cartos.

Not everyone loves the Boge cartos either. That's why we offered to send you a free pack.

Hopefully you'll enjoy them as much as I.

Sorry for the length of the post, lol. Hope that helps!

If you have more questions etc...you know what to do. All the best, happy vaping & Happy New Year dear,

your ego t can use regular atties , just a thought , for siplicity i say the bloog or the volt or get some 510 kanger horizontal carto for ur ego t to try that i have a regular ego it works great with lr 510 attiies and dripping
i use a reo mini and i love it but its a bit more expensive than what u want to spend but its an all mechanical device so no wires or anything to go wrong and the batteries are replaceable rechargeable batteries, this units awesome cause u can submerge it in water to clean it and nothing will break cause u guessed it no wires :)
check em out at reos mods

Ok, first and formost you have to decide on the battery. Personally I would aim for 510 threaded. This include the Ego, the 510 and almost all mods. I say this simply because it is versatile and you have many cartomizer/atomizer options.

You can go for 808, but then you are pretty much limited to cartomizers which you may not like.

My one concern is the price you listed. For $30-50, I'm afraid you won't find something robust enough to get you going and fully experience the vaping world. Ultimately, I would recommend an Ego battery, and like 5 different atomizers and cartomizers to try out and see what you like best.

I, like you, became very frustrated with the tank system. It sometimes won't wick well and gives me a horrible dry hit (that plasticy harsh hit), and sometimes it won't give off any vapor at all, and the flavor just plain old sucks.

What really hit home for me was an Ego battery and LR Ego Atomizers (not the tank type). I've been using them ever since I started, and I've tried all sorts of cartos and atomizers.

I think you need to commit $200 towards juices and hardware to really get going and find that sweet set up that works for you. It's just the reality of the start up costs. I mean, sure, you could spend $60 and find something perfect, but what are the odds that the first thing you try will be right for you? It's like randomly buying one brand of cigarettes and it just so happens that it's the perfect flavor you. I think to be succesful you have to think more about your health, and less about your wallet.

I would suggest leaving the tank alone, and picking up a KR808D-1 starter kit ... www.CANVAPE.com has great kits with great pricing, and very good service.

The tank system was a good idea that simply cannot consistently deliver the goods ... Cartomizers are the way to go

Totally agree with Nikkita6 here. I used the tank system as well for awhile - thought it was the cat's behind for the first couple of weeks. Then vapor production and flavor went into the toilet. Just seems to be the nature of the beast from everything I have read here on the forum. I believe that the KR808 kit mentioned is very reasonably priced and sounds like it would be the way for you to go for the time being. I know what it feels like to have very limited funds and few options but really wanting to get off the cancer sticks! Hang in there! It is so worth it!
