I'm usually at 7.5 with coils in the range of 1.8-2.8Ω. Sometimes I kick it up to 8W or lower it to 7W depending on the juice I'm vaping.

I'd recommend setting your mod to 6W and increasing it until you sense a drop in flavor, then back it down a notch. Once you get there you don't really need to mess with it much no matter what resistance your coil is.

I don't know why, but 1.7 ohms is killing it right now at 11 watts. I better not explode.

Which very well could happen. I am not sure, but I think this is why people don't use such a high wattage. It burns out just about everything they try to use on it. Plus shortens the batt life considerably.

I definitely get bigger clouds when I crank up the power but for me I notice a pretty significant drop in flavor quality. I care more about flavor than I do about vapor production, but everyone's different.

That's usually the case, but at this point, the flavor is still there. I think I am messing with some Black bloody and blue from GLV. it's working perfectly

The flavor is still pretty good, which is surprising me.

Depends on the coil.

Stock coils and devices vary a bit. Usual range is 6 - 9 watts, 7.5 to 8 being fairly norm.

With RBA's and thicker wire (like 30 ga or 28 ga wire or even 26 ga) there's a lot more watts needed just to heat that thick coil wire (lower resistance needs to push more watts to get enough "friction" in the wire...see?).

Then there's the juice variable. Different juices respond to higher or lower watts. Some fruit flavors, for example, burn at higher wattages whereas many other flavors just get going. And different recipes react differently too.

So start low, and dial it in. Start around 6 or 7 watts and adjust from there.

This is all for singe coils. For dual coils, you have to double the watts (the watts divide per coil unless there's a special setting on the device for dual coil mode).

Thanks everyone. So If I switch it to read watts (power) instead of volts, the volts will move accordingly when I change the watts?

that's more or less the gist of it. basically, if you put a 3 ohm carto on it at 8 watts, it will provide whatever voltage is necessary to get there. if you switch to a 2 ohm clearo, it will lower the amount of voltage provided to stay at 8 watts. you can convert between the two using this formula:

P=(V^2)/R

where P is power (watts), V is voltage (volts), and R is resistance (ohms)

Ok, I think I get it. Put on my Protank, set the thing to power, put it at around 8 and everything else will take care of itself. I dont need to raise the volts like I did on my MPV

more or less, yes.

just as an example, if you always like a 2 ohm carto at 4 volts and a 3 ohm carto at 5 volts, then you can set it to 8-8.5 watts and never have to change the setting.

if, however, you're the type of person who uses a wide variety of toppers (eg, going from carto's to clearo's to protanks to drip atty's), and likes a wide variety of flavors at different voltages (eg, fruit flavors at low voltage, desserts at medium voltage, tobacco at high voltage), then unfortunately you're stuck adjusting no matter what.
