The worst device I've owned was the IPV D2. The D2 didn't step down voltage, so even if you tried turning down the power the mod would fire at minimum the voltage of the battery charge. It also drained my batteries to the point of damaging them rather than cutting off at 3.2 to 3.4 volts. It would also drain batteries from full to overdrained within 24 to 48 hours of the mod sitting without being used. I threw away about 4 VTC5 batteries before I figured that one out. While the battery drain may have been a defect (my IPV3 did the same after over a year of flawless daily use) the lack of step down was just the design of the chip.

Original Crown & SE1. Also the money wasted on coils. To add insult to injury, I bought Crown in b & m. Paid too much.
You could've bought about 50 iclears for that kinda scratch. If I remember correctly, the vf squonkers were around $350 or so? Hats off to Vapinart. I told them it sucked and I thought it was a bad idea to have juice pouring out of the charge port. Full refund with no further questions asked. They've had my business ever since.

Hahaha! Ya know, when I saw the title of this thread I thought I could write a list a mile long. I really can't tho. I learned something from every device I've owned. The less than perfect ones were my education and making them work got me involved with my vape. The only item I own that I truly despise would be my SMOK R-Steam mini. Clumsiest device I've ever held and the firmware is just as clumsy. I do have to say that it makes a very good battery charger tho.

Worst piece of gear I bought was the original Kanger Kbox 40w. Got it on impulse when it was new, at a mall kiosk. After a few months it stopped firing. I took it to the local store than ran the kiosk, they exchanged it for another KBox which also died after a few weeks. So I took it back again, this time they gave me a Sigelei mini instead. Which stripped out its threads after a few months. I gave up after that and got a Provari 2.5 which, of course, is still running strong over two years later. I still have the Sigelei which I use to test batteries in.

Anyvape Sega tank. As soon as I unboxed it. I knew it wouldn't wick well enough to keep the coil soaked. Tried it anyway just to prove myself right. I still have it--I know what will fix it but I don't have the time to do it.

My leak monster was the old DCT dual cartomizer.

It would be hard for me to answer. I've never bought a piece of gear that I thought was a mistake at the time. Plus, many things I've bought were things that I thought were pretty good at the time; but looking back in the rear view mirror, today they look pretty sad. But that's where technology was at the time, which is quite different from what we have today.
CE2s are a good example. They were my next step after cartomizers. I thought they were fantastic, at the time. But looking back; yeah, they were pretty bad.
After that, I became a big fan of genisis RBAs for a time. The first one I bought was a Chinese knock off that we used to call a 'DIDalike'. It was a knock off of an authentic genny called a 'DID'. It was a pain to build on, because you had to have fingers like Kermit the Frog. But once it was set up, it worked; and it was the device I learned to set up mesh wicks on. It led me to buying several much better gennys later.

Everything i have bought has educated me to some extent.
Saying that, i remember thinking that replaceable head top coil silica wick CE4 type clearomisers were the epitome of vaping. I proceeded to buy 100 coil heads from an obscure Chinese seller just before the bottom coil (Protank et al) clearos came out.
I still have around 97 of those coil heads somewhere.... :(

Well I guess I would to start with CE2's, then there was the DCT tank.

I wasted more money on liquid with that tank than it was worth. God, what a disaster that was.
