What do I have, and how does it work?

Been reading this forum for a week now. Heavy smoker for many years here.

Bought a local njoy NPro Duo 2n1 yesterday. NOT to be confused with the other NPro apparently. This e-cig is made of 2 parts: the battery (and LED light) and the cartomizer.

So far... eh. Sometimes good, usually very weak, sometimes strong to the point of unpleasant. Not near the vapor I'd like .

I can't find much info about this e-cig at all (what category is it in?) but most especially, I'd like to know HOW IT WORKS so I can fiddle with it until I purchase my next (and better!) e-cig.

I took a cartomizer apart. It has:

1. a metal part, with
a) threading on one end (screws into battery side) and
b) a tiny tube on the other end

2. from the inside (tube side) of the metal part is what looks like a wick, about 1" long.

3. a wire comes up from the metal part, parallel to the wick, winding around the wick in the middle, then up through the fabric roll, and finally folds over the entire piece (4-6) where it re-attaches to the metal part.

4. a mini tube sock over the wire and against the top of the wick.

5. a small square of fabric/material similar to a baby wipe, wrapped around 1-4.

6. a slightly larger square of looser fabric/material, wrapped over the smaller square, with the wire folded back over it, holding it all in place.

I'd like to understand how this thing works! :D What's the point of the little sock? Or having two different types of fabric/material squares? Can these types of cartomizers be refilled? (I think they can, using dogsbody's method, but I'm not sure.) Are any of the parts swappable with other e-cigs? mods?

Thank you SO MUCH for this forum and all of your help and answers to us newbies. TONS of info here! I just hope these e-cigs can get me away from analogs. They are killing me.

Hmmm... I'm not sure what model that is either. Not a kr808 'cause it has male threads on the carto like a 510. Not sure but it doesn't sound like you're all that enthralled with it.
We all buy one we're not too happy with at first, well most of us anyway. Don't let that discourage you. I don't know if you paid 70 some odd dollars for it like it says on their website or not but you can get a 901 or 510 kit for a little over $30.00 here Welcome to MadVapes LLC
So. Newaygo eh? I've been up there. My sister and brother in law used to live on and work some guys farm in that area when I was a teenager. I went up there and helped them out for a couple weeks. Nice area.

I'm not sure of what you have either, or at least not what else it may be compatible with. From the looks of it, it could be a 510 cartomizer setup, but can't tell for sure from just pictures. The original NPro was not compatible with a 510, but they do say that the cartridges are not interchangeable.

At any rate, you should be able to refill the carto and you do not have to remove anything like in dogsbody's method. What you are describing sounds like a typical cartomizer, where the juice is held in a cotton type material and then there is a wicking material held in place by a wire that wicks the juice to the atty. If you can see all that, it means that you can simply drip juice onto that filler material until it won't take any more. The only thing that has me worried is your description of sometimes getting a really harsh taste, which sounds like the filler may be burning a little. I would try filling with some good quality juice and see if it improves the taste.

similar to the E9. or the Gammucci disposable.
I've been using the E9 for a while now, and really like it.
The cartos are re-fillable, But I only fill about 3 times.

While I was hunting a source for cartos, and batteries. (in the U.S.) I was directed to a
site that has just what I needed for hardware.
Upon further research, I found that not all "808's" are the same. While the KR808 has a female thread, the 808D-2 is identical to the E9

(edit) I've also found that I can buy from the Manufacturer, and call it what ever model number that I want to.
ie; I can buy a supply of E9's and call them (my brand)510. while the two are as different as night and day. They will be referred to as 510s.

Thank you both for your replies.

Unlike the cartomizers I've seen in vids and pictures, my cartomizer is one sealed piece that is not meant to come apart. No cap or o-ring to remove. It's made of a fairly flexible plastic with a small hole in the mouth end where the vapor comes out, and that's it. I rocked it carefully while attached to the battery (just so I had a good grip) and was able to slip it off, but it's not made to do that, and I screwed up the insides in the process so that it was ruined. I squeezed a few drops out of the filling (with my fingers) so it wasn't dry, and nothing looked burned except the wick where the wire wrapped around it a few times. The harshness wasn't a burnt taste, just harsh, like the first ever puffs from a real cig when you don't know how to smoke yet. It seems that the 3 cartomizers I've used so far haven't been too consistent throughout. I'm so new at this though that I may be vaping wrong, or too often, or who knows? I keep the batteries charged, so it's not that.

I don't know what tips or advice or reviews apply to my particular e-cig, so the forum is not helping me as much as it could because I don't know what applies to me. Is the Njoy Npro Duo 2n1 in a class all its own? I read that it's all new (for Njoy at least), came out in April if I recall.

There is a video of young guy in a shirt and sweater vest that discussed the Npro Duo but now I can't find it. If anyone sees it then that's what I have. (Will be adding more though, I'm sure of that!)

Yes, Newaygo is a nice area. Thank God the temps are going to be a bit more tolerable now. These past few days have been miserable hot! :D

The other types of cartomizers aren't meant to come apart either. But people wanted to reuse them rather than buy a prefilled carto, vape it and toss it. So they figured out how to refill it and, along the way, started pulling the mouth piece off the end. (ETA: As a result, some enterprising suppliers started selling ones where the mouth piece isn't glued in.)

Dogsbody, who invented the condom method of refilling cartos, came up with this video which might help you. From what I understand (or think I understand), the important stuff is the sock, the wires and the tube. The liquid on the sock is what you vape. The purpose of the other filler is to give the sock a supply of liquid so you don't have to keep adding more.
