If I buy an 11mg cartomizer, does it mean 11mg of nicotine per cartomizer?

If I buy an 11mg juice, I imagine it's not 11mg per bottle of juice. What is the measurement? 11mg per 3ml? Sorry for this noob question, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

Is an 11mg concentration juice something I'd need to worry about if I got a small amount on my hand (hasn't happened, just wondering if I should invest in some rubber gloves or something).

I believe Ricanrod has it correct.

One vendor, I forget who it was, specifically stated "xxmg/ml" on the bottle, meaning if it's a 11mg juice, each ml of fluid contains 11mg of nicotine.

I would imagine it's the same thing with pre-filled carts and cartos, just the strength of the juice they used, not the total amount of nicotine in the cartridge.

Hi and welcome to ecf. Yes it per mil. Gloves usually are not necessary until you get into higher %. Just wash you hands. if you get some on your fingers or hands try to wash it off fairly quickly....it is not instant but will absorb into your skin if you leave it on there for more than a couple of mins....

From my understanding (and I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time), the nicotine that we vape isn't in the same chemical form that we got when we smoked. The burning of the tobacco puts it in a form more easily absorbed into the body than vaped nicotine. I think I read somewhere that we only get ~40% of the nicotine that's in the liquid when we vape.

Please don't take this as gospel; unless, of course, others come by and confirm it ;).

ETA:
Think I'll add that last line to my sig!

The percentages mean per ml. of liquid just like the mg value mentioned on medicines. It tells you the amount of nicotine in it. I guess that's what it means - not a 100% sure.

mg stands for "Milligram", which is a measure of Weight. And ml stands for "Milliliter", which is a measure of Volume.

The amount of Nicotine in an e-Liquid is given for 1ml of the liquid.

So 11mg e-liquid has 11mg of Nicotine for every 1ml of liquid.

If a carto can hold Exactly 1ml of e-Liquid, then there would be Exactly 11mg of Nicotine in the carto. But that is not usually what is being referred to when you see pre-filled cartos. They are not saying how much Nicotine is in the carto. They are saying how much Nicotine is in the e-Liquid, per 1ml, that is in the carto.

Percentages are Not used to describe the amount of Nicotine in a given liquid.

The percentages , usually mean , per ml. of liquid . So if you buy a 5ml. bottle , that's 11 or 12 % . You would get aprox, 11 or 12 % per ml. At least that's the way , I understand it . Veterans , please correct me , if I'm wrong .

That is correct. Chemists being the least rigorous people in the scientific community, have decided to invent a new definition of %. The meaning of 11 % is 11mg per ml. Only in chemistry!

Nicotine concentration can be in mg, in which case it is actually referring to "mg/mL" (see above posts); it can also be expressed in %, which due to the properties of nicotine work out to:

1.0% nicotine liquid is the same as 10 mg/mL
1.8% nicotine liquid is the same as 18 mg/mL
2.4% nicotine liquid is the same as 24 mg/mL
etc.
