Because I'm bored, in a curious mood, and have yet to meet any other vapers in my line of work....

I do a combination of in home family therapy and social work with low income families that have children with behavior problems and are at risk for out of home placement. It's interesting but can be really stressful. Always have an e-cig on hand :)

I install and repair movie theater digital projection systems. Can be a fun job at times but is usually hell. I travel way too much and work 80+ hour weeks far too often.

In fact if you ever go to the Regal, Great Escapes or R/C Theaters up there in PA I installed most of their digital equipment.

Also wanted to say, that's a very noble profession you have there, I used to be one of those kids.

Right now, I'm not working. I hated my job so much (and especially my boss) that I recently told him off and quit. I was a manager at a local grocery store. In hindsight, it was a good gig as far as retail management goes. I made the schedules and I had a lot of freedoms. I was being groomed to move up. I still don't regret it. Little did those people know how much I really resented them. I will not do that kind of work for the rest of my life. That's time and misery that could have been so much better spent.

But it's not like I just snapped one day and quit. I've been saving and planning for this for a long time now. I paid up in full on a 6 month lease for my place. Not including the $8000 I've saved up, I also have plenty of spending money coming in from odd jobs. It's hard to make a living as a graphic designer around here, but it's at least a skill that's coming in handy for extra cash. A couple days worth of that each week will cover my extremely tiny amount of expenses for two weeks. I've found a printing firm who needed a pinch hitter to take on some of the more redundant design work. They specialize in signs, vehicle wraps, and other large-scale projects, but they do pretty much everything in between. Whatever they can get. The work comes in at a variable rate, but it always comes in. They can't afford to hire me even though they are busy and understaffed, so I accept a bit under the table in exchange for taking care of whatever lesser projects their artists don't have time for. Perhaps that will change in the future.

For fun money, I fix/upgrade computers and do guitar lessons for beginners. I also recently had solar fixtures installed, which are almost completely powering the house. What I pay for electricity is actually less than the electric company pays me just for having them rigged up and in-use, so that is win-win. It also helps that I have well water. All that I have to pay for is gas, food, cell phone, internet, and toiletries. I don't watch TV. I'm still included in my mom's health insurance plan. Gas isn't really much of an issue since I prefer to bike if where I'm going is within 7 miles distance. I really only use the car to get groceries.

It's a simple, modest life, but I'm easy like that. All that I need is good company, good music (and my instruments,) good reading, basic amenities, and a working computer and I'm happy as can be. I'm not big on stuff or going out.

I'm pretty set on not working right now. Honestly, my past few jobs have left an awful taste in my mouth. I am loving this perhaps a bit too much! I've been very fortunate. I'd like to take this window to try and figure out which direction I want to go in. If I run low on cash/resources before I get onto a new career path, I can do anything retail or go run a forklift somewhere. But right now, I don't have to go into that, so I'm not.

.

I work for a non-profit. That means the pay is low so you get used to living a modest lifestyle. I've come to terms with the fact that I'll never make tons of money. I like what I do though so that usually makes up for it.

That sounds like it would be interesting. The 80 plus hours must be rough though.

It's nice to hear noble. :) I usually get told I'm crazy for doing what I do. Haha. It is usually really intense but what I've gotten to see and experience has definitely changed the way I think about people and the world. It forces you to find strengths where there doesn't seem to be any.....aaaand I'm gonna stop before I start sounding too much like a corny therapist.....

Being retired, I 'work' at gettin' outta bed in da morn and findin' my way back when 'whooped'. At my age, I just enjoy breathing; especially since I started vaping!

Almost a third of my life (66 years young) was not a job. That was da 20 years in da USAF in a dynamic, leading edge, exciting and satisfying career field.

Da next 21 years was spent trying to financially make up for lo$t ground during da prior 20 and attempting to 'repay' my bride of now 44 years and our three daughters for their loyalty, support and sacrifices. Long story short, all is now well!

I could go into an extended ol' fart dissertation on life, love and income. But suffice it for me to quote an ol' adage: "Do what ya love and you'll never have a job". I'll also add that if ya don't enjoy Ramen noodles and warm water, you're probably gonna have to work your azz off!!!

Retired, which is what I call outta work at 62. I restored antiques and architectural woodwork for many years. I've also worked in quite a few health food stores. These days I make herbal soaps, garden, and volunteer at a couple of nonprofits, delivering donated goods to needy families and giving tours of a local historic mansion. Since I'm an herbalist I make most of my own medicines and am gearing up for natural DIY e-juice.
