I just got an e-power kit and am loving it! But I do have a question: Does the cone serve any purpose besides aesthetics?

The cone dresses up your eGo style ecig and also offers some protection for cartos and attys against lateral pressures when carried in a pants pocket. It's mostly to break up the right angles between the carto and the battery and make it look sleeker and more stylish.
That's what I thought. It didn't seem to affect the vaping at all (not that I expected it to).
There's one other, very practical side to them you'll appreciate only if you drip: the cone acts as a very effective drip shield, containing spills until which time as, Kleenex in hand, you're prepared to spin the cone off and deal with them.
I haven't had much luck with dripping so far. I tried it with the attys that came with the kit. 3 drops=nothing; 4 drops=flooded. Going to wait until I get some dripping attys before trying again.
3 drops is nothing—if that's all you feed a new atty to prime it. On a standard 510, 5 or 6 are needed to permeate the steel mesh. After that, it's 2 or 3 to a refill—or so. YMMV.
Personally I found it a great place to glue rhinestone to. I bought several extra and used different colors so now I have one in just about every color. A girl thing....
I think I'll forgo the rhinestone, lol. Dammit! my brand new cone doesn't want to screw on. It's been fine, and I'm unwilling to force it, for fear I'll strip it. Guess it's off to the store for some Wd40, I guess.
Okay this is weird: I took off the carto and tried the cone again and it fit fine. I took the cone off, but on a different carto and the cone did just fine. I then went back and put on the previous carto and it wouldn't fit again. Note that these are both 1.7s from the same box. I'm guessing the threads on that one carto is slightly off; which makes it lean slightly, which throws off the cone threads. Sound reasonable?
Maybe, although I'd be curious about the OD on the no-go. I don't suppose you've got a pair of calipers handy?
What the heck is an OD? And no, I don't have calipers (that I know of anyway, lol).
It's part visual, but also part of the airflow control; they tend to make an annoying wheezing sound without the cone, and sometimes you get too much air; I initially got my Inferno without a cone, then I ordered a cone, now I use a drip shield-looks better and controls the airflow better.
Slightly tilt the carto and it should fit on again.
I think that the cone can also adjust the airflow, depending on the carto used, as the air now has to pull from the top of the cone. I don't think it's a massive difference, however.
Also, I haven't used my cone for about 2 weeks now. Ever since I got my fluxos, the cone opening is not wide enough. I do miss the rigidity it gives to the carto, so maybe this weekend I will finally pull out some tools and mod it a little.
