Talking about eGo batteries.

As far as I can tell all the fixed batteries are nominally 3.7v.
VV batteries seem to go to ~4.8v

If they are just "regulated" then this is also the max voltage, but as they discharge the voltage will drop.

On the other hand if they contain a small "regulated switching circuit" they could maintain the set voltage until the battery was nearly completely flat; at some cost in how long they remain charged.

It seems the early batteries had none of this sophistication, and would sag to about 3.2v under load.

But what about the current crop? What sort of electronics have they got?

not true, this is for output. the charging circuit can easily bypass the regulator to allow the batter to be fully charged.
in most ego style vv there is a charging circuit with voltage cut off, a small booster circuit with a regulator. and a potentiometer to adjust the voltage, pretty much it.

while they work they arent special in anyway and will hold the voltage best they can until the battery dies. but the sag is still noticable on an ego is it gets low. while it is a booster circuit there is no calibration mechanism meaning even though its set to 3.6v theres nothing making sure it stays at exactly 3.6v

but stuff like the twists are a huge step forward and i dont think i would have fully quit smoking if not for something like the twist.

yea they just pull more amperage from 3.7 volts and make less amperage at 4.2 volts. just for example. but this also kills the battery faster. gotta make a trade off somewhere when using ego class.

it is a small circuit but most mods are rated in the 3 to 4 amp range now a days. i think the ego is 2.5 amp not sure. but the amp limit also explains why under certain conditions it just doesnt seem to hit as hard as it should it just cant go higher or it shuts down for safety,
