I deal with the public, and there are a lot of non smokers. Add to that the legislature in Mass used a logarithmic scale when they decided to tax loose tobacco (price went from $16 a pound to $75!) and that I have been smoking for 35 years. I still smoke 3-5 a day, but vape a lot more than that. Also, was having chest pains that went away after the 5th day of vaping!

Amazing! My chest pains went away the day after I started vaping and haven't come back!

Holy cow I thought when they raised the loose tobacco here by 23 dollars in taxes that was alot $75 dollars how much is a regular pack of analogs

The desire to quit smoking coupled with the knowledge that I would never quit unless I could get hubby to quit too and topped of by a Blu commercial. The Blu commercial led me to research them (I had heard of ecigs but only in passing up to that point). Researching Blu led me to a lot of mixed reviews. I then started trying to find out what the best ecig was... well eventually it lead me here but right before that I ordered two kits and some extras from Volcano after seeing quite a few positive reviews.

I have to say their equipment is fine but they seem to have trouble reading orders and their CS is not as good as it once was. I think maybe they're too stretched.

At any rate I have my old magma which I turned over to hubby for a spare and my ego and I'm happy.

I wasn't looking to quit smoking entirely, but I desperately wanted to stop smoking in my car and especially in my house where I smoked like a fiend. The smell, the ashes, the icky film on everything, the smell, ugh. I spent so much time and effort and money trying to minimize the smell and ick with absolutely nothing to show for it.

My sister's boyfriend had bought an e-cig for his parents to try a few months ago. It didn't work for them, but the idea must have stuck in my head because I remembered it when I was at the end of my rope and thinking about buying a whole-house air purifier thing. I started researching, ended up here, and am really happy so far. At first, I smoked a few each day, all out on my deck, but now it's been a week since my last one.

like most of you.. i was in the boat where i knew i'd just never quit.. my addiction was too strong. i associated smoking with EVERYTHING. just wake up? gotta smoke. oh man i'm full...gotta smoke. got a phone call? where's my lighter. .... traffic- chain smoke. my only hope was one day if i had a kid or something.. i was getting damn sick of walking into class right after having a cigarette, knowing i reek of smoke.. or knowing i couldn't hit on (lol) non-smokers.. and after 12? years of smoking + asthma, i was starting to feel the effects of smoking in my lungs. hell.. i walk to class and i'm huffin and puffin o_O

then one day my friend who successfully quit smoking for 6 months already... one day busted out an electric cigarette while we were drinking.. took a hit and man did that thing suck. it looked like a kr808 but much worse. i would suck on the stupid thing forever to get barely any vapor. but i loved the idea.....i figured.. if I could even "cut down" from smoking.. i'd be a happy camper. i actually liked the act of smoking.. just not the negative effects that come with it, so if I could find a substitute where I don't have to lose the hand to mouth action, i'd be happy.

went home and googled "strongest electronic cigarette" and this stupid company called White Cloud kept showing up.. Over priced as crap but I figured "it's the strongest!". then i felt i need to sleep on it before i spend $200 bucks on something. luckily i found this site first and did madd research and the rest is history. man am i glad i didn't order that White Cloud kit......

Great stories all... In a way, they're all very similar...

About three years ago, I happened past a Smoking Everywhere kiosk, so I was vaguely aware but not interested. I went to my mom's house on my birthday a couple of weeks later to find that she had bought one for me. One of her friends had gotten one and swore by it, so she spent $300 or so on their top kit, extra everything, and carts.

I was really not happy. I wasn't ready to try them. They tasted terrible, the atty never quite worked right, the battery didn't last... Add to that the fact that I wasn't ready to quit. I was almost angry that she'd presume to buy something like that for me. It sat in my closet for years, never touched after the second day.

Fast forward two years. I worked with people who needed lung transplants, many of them from a lifetime of smoking. It's not easy to talk to someone who's more or less dying from smoking while you stink of smoke. I felt terrible about it, but not really bad enough to do anything about it quite yet. At this point, I started looking into it again...

I did a small amount of research, glanced at ECF, and really wasn't into it. I didn't think such a thing needed such a large community, and I didn't understand how involved all this was. So I researched the overpriced stuff that's so readily available. Due to the referral programs, there's PLENTY of information out there about the garbage.

Then, my life changed. I found out I was gonna be a daddy. That's what did it. I went ahead and ordered $175 worth of garbage from V2. Like so many of you, it just wasn't quite doing it for me. I read their forum, which didn't have any good info. But I came across a discussion someone was having about this forum and a deleted post from the V2 forum, so I had to come check it out.

It's too late to make a long story short, but with info from ECF, I am now two months tobacco free. I use a ProVari with eGo tanks, and I'm as pleased as I can be. I still probably spend as much as I did before, but I think most of that was just finding the RIGHT stuff, and building up my DIY stock... Now I've got enough nic, pg, and vg to last a year, and I've got my hardware routine where I want it. I still spend a few bucks a month on attys and new flavorings and such, but I'm in a good place.

My fiance quit entirely when we found out she was expecting, and she doesn't like that I vape. It'll be interesting to see what happens after the baby's born and she doesn't have that keeping her from smoking... I've already got some menthol crystals I've been secretly playing with, trying to get the hang of using them... She smoked menthols, and I hate them, but I want to be ready if she picks them up again!

If you've made it this far, thanks!

Black n milds are what started my road to nicotine! In my stupid teenage years I would partake in some "less than legal" smoking with my "friends" I was embarassed that I would always cough my head off so I thought I would "practice" with some black and milds. What a bone head move  After a while the BnM's were killing me so I switched to marlboro lights. I still facepalm whenever I think about how it all started.

I had quit smoking for 5 years then started smoking cigars. Started inhaling them and had to switch to cigarettes. It's funny because now that I have vaped a couple of years I can easily inhale cigars. We build up a tolerance what we are taking into our lungs--cigarette smoke or otherwise.

One night last December, something happened to me. I was at my lowest point with smoking, and every cig I had my lungs would close up on me and I would instantly start having chest pains. I had been having this effect for sometime at this point and the depression was getting to me because I KNEW I was literally killing myself and not at some far off point in time and space, but NOW. I've had a lung disease for the last 18 years and have been fortunate not to be "technically" disabled but I could see that quickly slipping out of my grasp. My lung function was terrible and I would get out of breath just walking from my front door to my pick up. Seriously I was only 38. That should NOT be happening to me..

I was smoking about every 15 minutes and I know that because I was forcing myself to wait those extra few minutes between cigs. Well that night some stupid pop up flashed across my screen for Green Smoke. Well heck this must be a sign I thought. I watched some YouTube videos and was sold. I ordered my way over priced starter kit and mounds of useless flavored cartomizers..

I waited for my quit date with the hope of saving my life. I just knew this was my last hope and my time had run out. This was a do or die situation for me, I know it sound dramatic, but for me it was. I have struggled for years and years trying to quit but always falling further down the black hole of failure..

Well GS was a waste of money but I found ECF and they steered me towards the eGo. (Thank you all) it did the trick..

Now I'm happily vaping on my REO Grand and haven't had a smoke in well over 200 days. After 27 years of battling with the nasties I KNOW I have a choice. I don't HAVE to smoke ever again and for the first time in my life I know I will NEVER pick up another cig again..

On a side note, I joined a gym and have started walking/running for an hour a day. I can cruse 4-5 miles in that time. Yes I get a bit out of breath but my throat doesn't close down and set my lungs on fire anymore. I have a new life now and I couldn't be happier!.

What got me into vaping was 1st it was getting so expensive with the constant ciggeratte tax increases. 2nd after 15 years plus of smoking it was starting to affect my health. I was getting up inth morning and couging up gross black nasty stuff. I couldnt walk up flight of steps without getting winded. Now ive been vaping about 6 months and have purchased a car with the money ive saved from buying ciggerattes everyday. Not to mention i feel 100% better! Best decision ive made in my life to date! Will never go back to analogs again...

smoking was destroying my gums, I didn't want to quit and didn't think I could at the time. I tried chantix for 2 months and never stopped smoking I smoked less but it wasn't working. I bought a e-cig back at the end of 2007 after a co-worker showed his to me, it never worked very well and the e-juice was nasty so I stuffed it in a cupboard. I was getting ready to refill my chatix for the third time when I remembered I had a couple e-cigs I dug them out but the juice had gone bad. so I did some research and bought 3 different starter kits and a box mod and a ton of samples juices I was determined to make it work I quit the day my first kit arrived Nov 3 2010. I just got back from the dentist a couple hours ago and I am happy to report that she said my gums look great. oh yeah I don't wheeze anymore (bonus):vapor:

I never wanted to quit smoking and never thought I would or could, except after 49 yrs of smoking and up to 2 1/2 packs a day, my cough had reached the embarrassing stage. I saw an ad for e-cigs and thought I'd just give them a try. I found this site and ordered what everyone at the time was raving about, which was the 510. The day they arrived was the last day I had a regular cigarette and that was Sept 21, 2009. My family and friends are still amazed and I still don't know why it worked, but I'm so grateful it did.

I had smoked for 45+yr. pack or more a day. Started to notice a gurgling sound in my lungs and new I had to quit but also knew I had no willpower. I had been stressing about quiting smoking for 2 years prior to this. Then in January of this year my computer went on the fritz. Seems funny now but I wasn't laughing then, after all it was just after christmas and funds were low. A friend of mine had suggested taking the computer to someone he knew and I even called them to schedule a time but for some strange reason took it to the place I had been to before. Destiny. Long story short, I'm standing there listening to the "not worth fixing, buy a new computer" spiel and all during this the woman/owner kept puffing on this strange thing that produced smoke(?). Any body who lives in Florida knows you can't smoke in any store and the key thing was there was no smell. I stopped her midsentance and the rest of the conversation was about this new e-cig thing. Never did get a new computer, mine seemed to heal itself in 24hr!(?) Spent the next 24 hr finding a local vendor who then turned me on to ECF. Within 1 week I had my first (and only I might add)big batt PV and have never looked back.
Strange how it worked out, it was just meant to be.........Smoke free for 6+ mo.
I thank that woman everday and treat my computer with kid gloves.

I have been using one form of nicotine or another since I was 9.. (32 years ago). What made me want to quit the most was the fact that I could no longer run a quarter mile without stopping at least twice and hacking up a lung. Then the expense of 2 or 3 packs a day, and not being able to taste or smell my food without adding a lot of spices. I do not intend on giving up the nicotine, and chose vaping as the most medicaly sound alternative to smoking cigs, cigars, or a pipe. The prices of smokeless tobacco has skyrocketed, and I would like to keep my teeth and gums as well....

I started smoking a few years ago when I moved to the florida keys. EVERYONE smokes down there and they make it so easy to do so. You can smoke in all the bars and most restaurants. If you happen to be at one of the very few places that doesn't allow smoking you go outside at 11pm in the middle of december and its still 70 out. At the end of December last year I decided to move back to colorado. I'm not a fan of the cold and was absolutely terrified at the thought of going outside to smoke a cig when it was 10 degrees outside. I didn't want to try and quit smoking (cold turkey, patches, lozanges, W/E) right in the middle of a big move either. I had tried quitting with lozenges and patches once before. Lets just say, it wasn't pretty. You could have told me the sky was blue and I would have snapped at you.

I was surfing the web a month or so before the move and saw an ad for the blu cigarettes. I got them a week or so later. They really sucked but I saw potential. I started searching online and thats when I found this website. I immediately sent back the blu cigs, got my refund, and ordered a 510. That lasted me a couple of months until I ordered my chuck. Using a pv actually made quitting smoking easy and enjoyable for me. Instead of being ang

Now I vape every where I go and happily vape away inside while all the poor analog smokers stand outside and freeze their rear ends off. So the cold is what ultimately made me quit smoking. Kinda weird but its the truth.

Sounds like I've stamped out more cigarette tobacco than you have smoked. IMHO even though we try not to take abstinence seriously, vaping is a club for people with serious addiction to nicotine.
