Istick 50w with an atlantis. First the mod….No batteries, no charger, spring loaded 510, enough power for RDA in the future, and great ergonomics. Second the atty.. no studying ohms law, no need to make coils, no need for an ohms meter, and supposedly good flavor and vapor production. So….what do you folks think? I like to build coils and drip, however for a total newbie this set up seems to be a great starting point (for $90). Any input is always appreciated, Jim

Sounds alright to me: iSticks seem to be the new standard for beginners, and you definitely don't want to recommend anything rebuildable to a newbie, since most won't want the finnickiness of rebuilding and wicking coils. The Atlantis is meant to be a decent tank, though I've not played with one myself. The Nautilus with BVC coils is meant to be a good starter, too.

The Atlantis I feel has a good variety from tight to open airflow. I don't disagree with your recommendations for a person starting out. I still feel the person should study ohms law. The Atlantis is subohm and even with an iStick, the user should still understand ohms law.
Is there any protection built into the iStick to prevent more amperage than the device can handle?

Just tonight I had a nice young lady ask me at the coffee shop what I would suggest.
I had a decent amount of gear on me and a friend was with me since I was testing a DIY liquid, so I was able to let her try a few different things.
We let her try:
An aqua v2 with a dual coil 0.5 ohm build @ 33w
A kf4 with a 1.2 ohm build @26w
A make war on a much with a dual parallel build
An Atlantis
A subtsnk

She ordered a subtank mini and istick 30.

She said she had tried an ego a year ago and it kept her off cigs for a day. After she tried several things for a while she hung out with us for several hours. Maybe she was captivated by my smile or the tank is that good, but she didn't reach for smoke the entire afternoon.

Thought it was an interesting non scientific study, but it'll be recommending that set up to mew vapors, with the airflow toned down the subtank is more than amiable for a recent smoker and pricing the two around , Mt Baker let's you out the door around 65$ for what amounts to pretty nice starter kit.
A little jealous they weren't out when I was a noob.

I don't know if the moving to sub ohm is so much a 'ready' thing.
The nautilus and protons... especially the kanger side, had so many bad coils historically that I wouldn't want to add a layer of frustration to a new vapor. I dealt with hat myself back in the day and it pushed me to either smoke or make a move to RBAs(which I loved) not everyone would like building so much. With the new line of sub ohm tanks the coils seem to hold up better, the airflow set to low would give a similar experience and the cost is down.
The way I look at it, a started mod and tank say in the case of the new person the other night, 30 for a mod, 30 dollar for a suntans mini, she can use thenaurflow as she changes her preference and if she wants to try rebuilding she only needs the tools and knowledge, if she doesn't wit to rebuild its not a biggie.
just seems to be a cost effective option over a long term, not to ,mention a subtank has the 1.2 ohm coils so if subohming needs preparation to be ready for, theres that.

About that 200w mod.... wanna sell it?
