the threads are not knurled smoothly, and had machining scratches. looked like it came from a junk yard when I received. And I wear Flip Flops and loafers, no shoe lace tying required
Mine were fine, and it looked gorgeous. It also worked flawlessly. So you are going to say it's "total POS. DO NOT BUY -TOTAL JUNK" based on appearance only. That's real helpful. Did you even try to contact Atmistique?

I had to tighten mine down with a wrench, but I was aware that I would have to do that before I bought it. It did not damage the threads. If you had a problem, you should have talked to the manufacturer or the vendor and gotten your problem resolved. Knowing Altmistique, he would have done his best to resolve your problem.

To the poster who called it a POS, I spoke with Bill from Atmistique on ECF here, it was about ordering the Twins from their Greek site, but did you try contacting? He was quite helpful. If you have a problem, it's best to voice your concern directly. Negativity might catch his attention now but is generally not the best course of action. It took someone asking you to elaborate before you even did. Let Atmistique know as vendors/manufacturers do value not only feedback and your experience, but their own reputation on ECF as well.

Here: They are a registered supplier http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/members/73043/billakosgr.html

There is an outer and an inner part. To install, you need to remove the outer part. Hold the 510 connector, the part that screws into the ProVari, with two fingers. Turn the outer cap counter clockwise. The parts should seperate into two pieces. The inner part has a flange with two sides flattened.

Start screwing the inner part onto the ProVari, After a few turns you will need to use an adjustable wrench (or regular wrench) to fully tighten it down (that's what the flanges are there for). If you have done it correctly, there will be a millimeter or less gap between the bottom of the inner Hippo attachment and the top of the Provari.

Screw an atty on and check it. If you get an error message, you haven't tightened the Hippo down enough. Once you have contact, remove the atty and screw the outer sleeve on. Take care not to cross thread it. Replace the atty, twist the outer sleeve until it contacts the bottom of the atty. Back it off a quarter turn. Take a puff, and turn the sleeve until you get the desired airflow. Hope that helps.

Note: When you first receive the hippo, the outer and inner part may be difficult to separate. If this happens, use a piece of cloth to protect the finish and grab the outer ring with a pair of offset pliers. rotate the outer ring counter clockwise while turning the inner part clockwise. You may need to hold the inner part on the flanges with a pair of needle nose pliers as well. You will only need to do this one time. The more you take the Hippo on and off and apart, the smoother the threading will function.

It comes in two parts, the adaptor and and the airflow control. I don't know if PLANofMAN did it for the same reason but I tighten the pole with a wrench as well so it does not unscrew when twisting the airflow control.

I actually needed the wrench to get it screwed onto the ProVari. When I unscrewed it, I had to peel a wire out of the threads, where the ProVari had shaved the threads on the Hippo. It did not damage either the ProVari or the Hippo, and the Hippo was much easier to screw on and off after that. I was able to screw it in about three revolutions by hand before I needed the wrench.

I'd really hope the threads aren't knurled at all, that's bad stuff there!
Threading.
