What is smooth?

I have just started DIY juices and many recipes I have found have smooth as an ingredient.. But I really dont know what smooth is.. wondering if someone can tell this newbie to DIY what it is..

A flavor smoothener that is useful to use in concert with other flavors- "Smooth" will round out any harsh edges and provide a thick, satisfying mouth feel. It will soften the high notes of your blend while boosting your background notes.

Ingredients: Artificial flavor, Propylene Glycol, Triacetin

I looked up what Triacetin was, not any different from other ingredients we are vaping I guess..
