Ok, so I went to a vape meet up at a local B&M last night. As I was looking around at all the mods they sold and what people were using, I noticed that they all look the same to me. A tube with a tank on the end. Sure, there were different colors, but tubes 'n tanks just look alike. I of course was the odd ball, walking around with my Grand and e-pipe (it's a foot long w/ the short stem). I think there was one other person there who knew what a Reo was. It also seems like most of them belong to another forum. I tried some juice at the bar, walked around looking at stuff I will never purchase, then I went home. I really need to go to a meet with other Reo users. Tube mods creep me out.

I'm not sure people that smoke a foot long pipe don't worry me!

Tube mods are ok, but my god, do they take a lot of messing with - and tanks and the rest, leaking all over the show....not for me either anymore, but it was where i learned to make coils. I much prefer what i use now. I don't know where the most meets occur, but for both of us they are likely to involve a good deal of travel. There are more Reo users in TX than anywhere else, but meeting them is tough and i have never seen another Reo user in the wild here.

Is there a good shop in the Couve or was it in Portland. I've been looking for a somewhat local shop and events but haven't seen anything. I'm down by Salem.

Vape meets are great places to try juices and pick up stuff you might need. Ours may not have REOs for sale, but I can get AW IMR batteries there - all sizes, drip tips, juices. They had rebuilding classes, (Not that I need one - ;) ) and lots of give-aways and games. The take it or leave it table is excellent for dumping juices you don't like and sampling and taking home those you do. We've got a few good juice makers that are fairly local to Knoxville, one being Mountain Oak Vapors. I love their Caramela and always stock up there through one of their reps. That same rep brings his dremel to drill out RBA airholes for anyone who needs it done.

It's also a great place to have a few beers and meet some interesting people. We met some ECFers there. TennDave, Kags, and Dougiestyle. Nice folks!

If you can find a meet, it's well worth a check out. If you can't find one, start one. :)

This.

I was at VapeExpo a couple of weeks ago and I was the only one I saw with a Reo. That said, most of the vapers I spoke with knew what it was and many of them owned one.

I think meets like this are 1) an opportunity to show off all your mods and swap vaping stories and 2) a chance to pick up that odd gadget you've been looking for or that juice you've always wanted to try without having to pay shipping. I personally am always on the lookout for unique drip tips, atty stands, rebuilding tools etc.

However, I spent most of the day with a group of vapers just building coils for the new RBAs everyone bought (I used the opportunity to spread the gospel of micro-coils). Sharing wick and wire and tools and comparing techniques...it was an absolute blast.

In the end it didn't matter what kind of mod everyone was using...we were just a bunch of different people from different walks of life sharing a passion for something that we all had in common.

Besides, how much fun would it be if everyone was vaping the same thing? I still enjoy showing off my Marine Corps Provari (with matching Marine Corps carto-tank) and my Cyclone on top of my Magneto (Klaatu barada nikto!) and my horribly wrapped Sigelei #19 (now there's a conversation piece). I mean, hey, you gotta have something to compare the Reo to, right?

Crash, sounds like that was a good meet! Way to go on spreading the micro gospel. :thumb: I always look forward to going. We've not missed one yet. And ya never know what kind of unique goodies the vendors might bring. :) Twice I've won tank type prizes and I just pass them on to a friend who likes tanks and such. In fact, I met that friend here on ECF and we share the same local vape shop - Rocky Top Vapor. That's how we hooked up. So I've made quite a few new friends through vaping.

Vash - yup, he's a nice guy! He popped into malkuth's It Happened thread tonight. Looks like we'll be seeing him and his wife next weekend at the meet. :)

I went to one - i learned more in four hours than i had in the previous six months. Making coils - liquids - you name it! Was great fun too!

Made me into the total idiot i am today, because any day without messing with something is a wasted chance. I will not embarrass those there but you know who you are! Blackmail stops a lot of the pics getting out ;)

Tube mods......

I set my buddy up with a Grand a few weeks ago. Well he was not happy with the RM2 so Friday I took it home & set him up with something else. He knows nothing about rebuildables, atty resistances, etc, I maintain his Reo. Today I returned it back to him & he was really happy, then I noticed he pulled out his Provari out of his pocket & set it on the work bench. As we were leaving the shop he grabbed the Reo & some new juice I gave him, then I reminded him that he forgot to grab his Provari. He was like yeah whatever.....
