What is usually the reason for volt drops on mechs?

I've got and MKB-TS and half the time it doesn't fire or takes a long time to produce vapor. Sometimes it works fine. Other times I need to press the button a few times or hold it in until it fires. I was thinking it might be the spring because it looks pretty low quality.

The spring could be part of the issue, but usually it's the contact points in general. The same thing happens on my EA mod, and sometimes a nice wipedown of the contacts (positive, ground, and button) fixes the problem. When even that begins to fail, I pull out the polish and make them all shiney... fixes it completely.

Some people use sandpaper and lightly sand the points which touch the battery (and the atomizer), but I find polishing kind of relaxing.

Would a good soak in rubbing alcohol help?

I put some Noalox joint compound where the switch connects. It seems to help a bit.

It wouldn't help as much as a polishing, but it would help. You don't even have to soak it, just wipe it down (you can use alcohol if you want, I normally just do a dry wipe with a microfiber cloth).

That said, I think the MKB-TS uses a steel spring, which isn't the best for conductivity... I've heard of people having success switching it out for a brass spring, or finding a brass screw that fits the threading, or just removing the spring and letting the battery sit on the base. I've never used an MKB-TS, but the setup is similar to the EA mod, and the EA mod doesn't use a spring.

What resistance are your atties? A higher ohm coil will take much longer to heat up than a low one on a mech.
