I decided when I started smoking in my twenties, that I would not continue smoking into my thirties. I gave myself license to abuse my body as much as I wanted in the short term, and smoked a pack an half a day.
When my 30th birthday was drawing near, I ordered a stash of eGo batteries with those refillable plastic tanks and long leg coil heads and the strongest juice I could find. On the fateful day I stowed my cigarettes in a cupboard and devoted myself to using the new equipment.
I was tempted pretty strongly but the e-cig was able to take the edge off the craving each time. I used a lot of coil heads and chain vaped until the liquid in the tank was warm and brown, but I didn't give in. I made a conscious effort to focus on the positive and ignore the negative since the ends justified any means. After a few weeks it became habit. That was nearly seven years ago. Technology has improved wonderfully.
I remember hacking up yellow stuff for a couple of weeks as my lungs cleared, being able to appreciate the taste of food better, and no longer being winded by minor exertion.
