I considered a Greyhoud, but don't know what he would be useful for.
Should I get a man or woman dog? Can a woman dog still be used to attack people? They are just as aggressive, right??

This looks like I am on the right track
This dog and me already have plenty in common from seeing this video

I also want it to be something I can use as a currency dog... Does it HAVE to be a pup, or can grown dogs learn something like that?

I considered a Pit-Bull.. I know they're adorable. But they can snap. No matter how safe they are, they're known for that. And I don't need that kind of danger or liability. When I want something that dangerous I use something I know I can control ( a gun ).

Thanks guys :)

Are you sure you should own a dog? Your motive seem a little off. I have two great dogs. One I saved from the Humane Society and the other I found (as a pup) on the side of the road. I could care less if they are not "currency" dogs. Love is the number one reason to own a dog.

Yeah, man, my motives are pure... I have a rule against making new friends for the past, I don't know, close to fifteen years now.. The best one I ever had is doing over 20 years and half-way through it

I figure the only friend I am interested in making is maybe having a dog. Seeing how loyal they are really gets me right here. You know?

I also have to rationalize it to myself, forming a new attachment, the animal has to be useful to me for my own piece of mind. A way for me to justify having one to myself.

...It sounds like you want one for the wrong reasons
If you don't know anything about dogs, you should really look into them before getting one

I don't believe that.. Because I've seen dogs be loyal amazing creatures, first hand. A man needs something in his life that's for sure not out to stab him in the back, you know?

I'm going to put the time in and do the homework before I just run out and get a big dog .. but I'd like to know why you think my reasons aren't right

I don't like making mistakes. So if I'm missing something, give it to me :)

Oh not saying you'd be a bad dog owner at all, just have seen alot of people who started out wanting one & found out it wasn't right for them, and the dogs end up in shelters , so I always advise people who have never had them to learn all they can before getting one...don't be so defensive this early in the morning, you are a friend remember?

I've never liked little dogs. Damn shaky little nervous things with their yippy barking, thinking they're vicious killers...

How I ended up with some little poodles and chihuahuas, I'll never know. But I love those little ankle biters. They're smart and affectionate, and the chihuahuas are little comedians.

We raise Irish Wolfhounds, Italian Greyhounds, and now Chihuahuas. It's kinda funny having the world's tallest breed of dog laying on the floor with a little Chihuahua cuddled up next to it. I think newborn Irish Wolfhounds are bigger than those little guys.

One of the only reasons a person should get a dog as a pet is because they enjoy their company. Dogs give unconditional love, but they have to be able to trust their humans to care for them. It's a great feeling to come home from work and have a little fuzzy critter greet you at the door, happy that you're home.

Ok - cool. Then my best advise is just find a dog that has a good temperament...and obviously one that you can see as being "Your best friend"

It's alright Ms. Whiskey.. I'm sorry if I barked at you.. I didn't mean to be that way :) Friends can disagree..

Anyway .. I've heard some of the most painful and toughest things I've ever had to hear come from loved ones and a friend. And appreciated them every time..

My ex and I were *this* close to having an Italian Greyhound. Those would have been great for the kids.

If a dog was loyal to me as I see some dogs being .. I'd do anything for the dog .. Something that loyal, I'd very surely shoot someone if they tried to harm it.

Those little mexican dogs are hilarious ... chiuauas are mexican, aren't they? They are vicious and upset and mad and they have no idea if another dog is 100 times their size ... LoL over here

The one with the waggly tail is a good choice! There is nothing like walking in from work and having a waggly tail attached to an excited dog bash against your legs!

I love how excited the dogs get when they see their owner come in.. Just pure raw innocent emotion and happiness... Like GRRRRR YOU'RE HERE.. IT'S YOU!!!

I feel like that when a woman I love walks in :D

I would also like to have a dog that likes to play and be a little rough.

Mmy family has adopted/rescued two shelter dogs and a few cats. It can be frustrating having to work to earn their trust but when you finally get over that barrier... It's amazing. Best feeling in the world when you know your pets trust you no matter what.

The lady I spoke of who has a boxer dog.. her dog is a rescue dog
The dog is wonderful

If you try to hurt her that dog will rip your eyeballs out through your :censored:
She really will!! I had to be careful how rough I was with the lady when the dog was around!!
Of course, she can do it herself, too.... She's a tough woman :D

The minpin I tried to adopt awhile back would have been rescued.. he use to be beaten half to death and these people had taken him in... Well he was just too skittish to ever trust me. It was so heartbreaking to watch.

I named him MinPin.. Original, eh?

The poor dog you could tell was really trying to, for example, come closer to me to get some food .. You could tell he wanted to but he just couldn't go against his instincts which must have been screaming at him to avoid human beings

I know how the dog felt, myself.

Dogs are like having a small child. They depend on you for everything. They need a steady routine. You have to feed, walk and bath them. They require alot of love and attention. You have to teach them and have patience with them.It takes time to build a bond of love and trust.Be very sure that you are ready for that much commitment before you adopt one.Being a pet parent will change your life.
