Also, depending on where you live, find a brick and mortar who sells like items and is knowledgeable, and doesn't charge an exorbitant amount more for fake gear or is pushy. Make sure they will work with you on gear that isn't performing. Stay away from mall kiosks and flea markets.

I started with a guy at our flea market and bought a cig pack looking kit and juice for under $30, but then found this forum. I ended up upgrading my kit online and go back to him time-to-time for emergencies. His drips tips are $1. I now know more now than he does and have a hard time keeping my mouth shut when he talks to other customers ;)

For your first, I would highly suggest a Smokeless Image Volt. I absolutely love mine and they have several types of kits available. Here is a link to their site. Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette
They also offer a 15% coupon in the coupon section and give you reward points for most things you order. Excellent customer service!
I have also heard great things about the Ego series if you like that look as well. Let us all know what you decide on!

If you are totally new and don't want to spend a lot on a kit right off I would start with this kit. Fairly inexpensive and the charger will work with the twist or spinner. It's not vv but is a little higher voltage than an ego. You can always upgrade. I was a 2 pad smoker and these got me off cigs. Now I have twists, spinners, and a provari but learned a lot along the way. These are great for backups too.

I started out over 12 months ago with a V2 (cig lookalike) and after the most recent 8 months of 'trading up' have gone back to it! Everyone says charging batteries every 3-4 hours is a pain, but, in the long run, I've found it far less of a pain and faster, than...leaking clearomizers, cleaning atomisers, changing wicks etc etc etc.
Just my opinion...good luck with whatever you choose.

If your starter kit does not have to look like a cigarette to you, I recommend 2 eGo Twist or 2 eGo Spinner variable voltage batteries (which together will last you over an entire day between charges), an Ego charger, a USB wall adaptor, and 3 large capacity clearomizers or 2 Mini Vivi Nova tanks.

I recommend two batteries at the minimum. You will need a second battery to vape with when the first is being recharged. In addition, it's extremely prudent to have backup batteries. Batteries do fail, and you don't want any reason to believe that you need to buy another pack of cigarettes once you have quit. I know, I've been there.

Next you will need to order some e-liquid. I have recommended two juice vendors below.

You need not place your order with the below vendors, they are only recommended by myself as an example of an ideal and inexpensive starter kit. The listed vendors use genuine Joye eGo, Kanger, and Vision products, not knock-off brands whose quality may be subpar.

The following components from Altsmoke and Discount Vapors and can be obtained for under $100 before tax and shipping charges (Juice not included):

As an alternative to clearomizers, a couple of Vision Mini Vivi Nova clearomizer tanks are also nice and easy to use - x2 - $24 - http://www.discountvapers.com/vision...zer-2-0ml-kit/

Vaperite | Organic and Natural Flavored Electronic Cigarette E Juice

I think I will be going with these recommendations. Is it possible to use a drip tip with the Kanger T3 rebuildable Clearomizer?

I don't actually have a Kanger T3. I made my recommendation for it from its popularity, very good reviews, and easy-for-a-beginner aspect. I believe the tip is proprietary, meaning the device will only work with the tip supplied.

I agree. I am new to vaping and I went with the T2 and then the T3, both are easy from a beginners aspect - and so is the eGo Twist, I enjoy the variable voltage and trying different settings even though I just started vaping on Jan. 6.

I don't know why people recommend variable voltage to a noob. My first eGo were variable voltage and I just left them on high. Changing them made no difference to me. Al 3 setttings were exactly the same.

Exactly my reasoning when buying my eGo which also happens to be my first ever e-cig too. I knew the whole VV thingy won't make any sense to me when I have nothing to measure it by or comare it to in my mind. So I went with a standard eGo and its been perfect for me since.

    Welcome Chuck:
    I will second Vlad's suggestion, Ego-C starter Kit, w/ 2 1000mah batteries.
That is what I bought two weeks ago, Happy- Yea, I am thrilled with this setup. I bought the kit w/ 2 650mah batteries and then bought 2 1000mah batteries as backups- should have just got the bigger one to start with.
Ego-C, easy to fill carts, long lasting batteries- and they are so 'Standard' that many, many accessories fit right on them.
I bought 2 Kanger T3 Clearomizers and replacement attys (atomizers) last week for vapping at home. They hold 2.5 ml of juice and are also easy to fill and fit right on the ego batteries.
Use the ego carts for out and about, T3s at home. Loving the Vapping Lifestyle, and the little women's happier too.
My 2€ worth. Again, Welcome, and Best to You.

I have the same setup, and it works well for me.

    2 x eGo-C Twists 1000mah
3 x Kanger T3 Clearomizers (3 to carry different flavors or nic levels)
1 x Joyetech rechargeable case (to carry the 3 clearomizers and charge spare battery)

The assembled unit sticks out of the top almost two inches, but I don't mind.
