Ego makes a variable voltage different from the twist. It is simply Ego-v. It has a led window and 2 buttons to a change volts, save that change and turn on and off with light thated button to know when firing or if it's off. It's 650 mah but a Passthrough so when you are home you can plug in to wall or extension cord and vape without worry on draining charge. It will loose charge over 6 months to a year and yes it does need a chargeable battery to function as a Passthrough so you know it ont last forever but Passthrough is a great option to have and they are a neglected part of the e-cig industry. So google ego-v Passthrough. They make non Passthrough with the buttons too. They have a soft button or a hard button style. Your choice. I think a 510 cartomizers with fill is the easiest but you should also have a drip atty and learn how to use it. Then google those things to hear what they say about 510. buy a higher level nicotine than you think you want when hitting thn adjust if wanted. Sample packs of juices because they are not all as tastey as they sound. Good luck and read read read.

ego twist is a good starter kit
I plan to start vaping soon but I'm finding it hard to compile all of the information. Research for new ecig is overwhelming. I don't know if I want to start with a very basic setup or pay twice as much for a nicer setup.

I think I want to go with a start-up kit that mods can be added to. My budget will not allow me any mistakes. :)

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

I started with a cig looking set up, and was highly disappointed. It was a hassle in too many ways to describe. If I had joined the forum first, I never would have gone that route.

I had absolutely no problem with using a Twist, even as a noob, and agree with baditude on his suggestion. Either get a Twist, or a Spinner.

I don't know why people recommend variable voltage to a noob. My first eGo were variable voltage and I just left them on high. Changing them made no difference to me. Al 3 setttings were exactly the same.

Chuck,

I started with a cig look a like (V2).. I've used I for about a year & am now getting bored with it... You can't do many mods with the look a likes. I am going to upgrade to the volcano inferno.... It's a great kit (1 650 mAh batt, 1 950 mAh batt, one tube & cart, 5 extra carts, 15ml juice) both batts are the pass thru ( vape & charge at the same time).

Don't make the same mistake that I did & purchase a cig look a like...it will be a waste of $$, as you will want to upgrade @ some point...

I'm very new to vaping, started about two weeks ago. I got the new lava tube v2 with a phoenix rebuildable atomizer. I would reccomend both, although the atomizer is a little tough to rebuild (its really small). I'm looking into a small mech mod though because I need something a little smaller, but the electronic features of the lava tube are a neccesity IMO.

A new vapor's taste buds have been damaged from years of smoking. (They will heal over time) So, for the first month or two, the sense of taste will be altered. I recommend that vapors exhale some of the vapor through their nose, as our sense of taste is closely tied in to the sense of smell. You can understand this better if you recall how food tastes bland when we have a head cold. The nose is not able to assist in the tasting of food during this time. So allow your nose to help you taste your e-liquid flavors.

Variable voltage is not for everyone. But having it available for a new vapor cuts out a step in the vaping progression and may help them to improve their vaping experience right from the beginning.

I would like to THANK Baditude as I took your recommendations into consideration when I decided to try vaping AND I did start out with a 1000mAh eGo-C TWIST, one Vision Mini Vivi Nova clearomizer tank and one Kanger T2. AND by January 19, I had switched over to Kanger T3s AND smoked my last Marlboro Menthol Light :)

I've successfully converted my 18 year old son over to vaping and together we're enjoying sampling juices from different vendors...oh I also started him off with an eGo-C TWIST and Kanger T3!

SO, with that said, thank you Baditude AND fellow ECF members for sharing your knowledge with us noobs. I too concur.

One thing I'd like to suggest is a VV-USB Passthrough, I bought this to use in my car and/or while using my laptop.
vvUSB.jpg
Variable Voltage EgO/510 USB Passthrough

It's an inexpensive way to try a variable volt device and is so easy to use with the Kanger T3 and/or Baby T3s.

Also, I picked up a 2.1 amp Wall Charger and simply plug it into that to use while at home/work or anywhere there is an outlet nearby - just another option to try.

Hello from a new vaper. I personally started with a Blu kit, but within a few days wanted more. So, I'll say just skip the "looks like an analog" phase and go for the ego style. As stated above the ego-c twists are great! I have also enjoyed the Kanger T3s a lot. I picked up a nice starter kit with two 1000mah twists, a case, usb charger, and two of the vision clrearomizers from sweet-vapes.com. Threw in a bottle of their Starbuckets Mocha and Classic Apple Pie and was in vaping heaven. Take care and wish you well on your journey.

I started out over 12 months ago with a V2 (cig lookalike) and after the most recent 8 months of 'trading up' have gone back to it! Everyone says charging batteries every 3-4 hours is a pain, but, in the long run, I've found it far less of a pain and faster, than...leaking clearomizers, cleaning atomisers, changing wicks etc etc etc.
Just my opinion...good luck with whatever you choose.

I just started with minis, Blu, and this sounds like some sound advice, why spend more time setting the unit up than actually vaping?

Your successful and inspiring story is what motivates me to pay it forward.

Quitting an 30-year history of tobacco and replacing it with the much safer, cheaper (?), cleaner, and equally-satisfying personal vaping devices saved my life.

Vaping can be a difficult process, but it can be made a fun thing, too. New hobbies are always a good thing. :D

If I can share what information and experiences that I have with new people wanting to quit, then I've done my part. Thank you for your recogition, It is sincerely appreciated.

I forgot to ask. Is the physical size of your battery acceptible to you? Is the length of battery time to your liking?

Have you experimented with variable voltage yet, and do you think this is a good choice for a new vapor?

How do you compare the juice delivery devices that you got, and which do you prefer, and why?

I like to hear feedback on the things I reccomend.

Baditude, again the man with good advice, and always willing to help us out.

On variable voltage, after my initial eGo-c kit, I bought two 1000mah batteries (kit came with 650mah's)- then bought a 1000mah VV twist to mate with my Kanger T3s, the T3 holds a lot more juice- about 2 days worth, I use this at home. The power of the VV twist is beneficial to even a new vapor, as it allows a better taste experience and vapor production nessasary to fulfill a young Vapers, soon to be more sophisticated desire- kinda like going from a BLU to an eGo 510.

My eGo-Cs are my everyday vape tools, small enough to carry in a pocket, last all day ( I carry an extra cartridge or two with me each day- but have yet to need them...but, better safe than sorry !)

I find the eGo cartridges easy to fill and use, and the flavor and vapor production is good enough to satisfy any former 2 PAD smoker.
Not so with cig-a-likes, flavor is weak, battery life is weak, vapor production is weak, choice of flavor is weak--Price of consumption is High relative to eGo vapor and flavor production. I believe they are a rip off, but people start vapping in different ways, then they find better choices- if they are not turned off by the initial experience.

I recently bought an eGo eVic- it is a great vaporizer, paired with a Vision Eternity RBA which I use for dripping Flavors.
The eVic has great vapor production, is Techie, fantastic battery life and ease of use-and the flavor of the vapor is very good, but I attribute that to more of a function of the Vision Eternity than the eVic it's self.

All in all, the eVic is a evolutionary upgrade to my vapping, not a revolutionary one. Mods seem to be just bigger and more powerful batteries with fancy switches. That said...I do really enjoy the VV/VW of it- and the changes in vapor production and taste are well worth the reasonable upgrade cost. I use this only at home in the evenings- as small as it is, it is too large with the eternity RBA to carry around day to day. (And I don't want to break my new 'Toy')

As with any endeavor, we usually start small, with baby steps- and progress as our needs/abilities and finances allow.
But in Vapping, for most of us- we are trying to get a monkey off our backs- and it ain't easy. I would think that for someone to have the best chance to beat the addiction, you would need a good starter system. I think the ego system is tried and true. It is portable, easy enough to use Day to Day, and produces a very good quantity and quality of vapor to enjoy- and is upgradeable as our sophistication with vapping grows and our sense of taste improves.

Funny, I bought a couple of the convenience store 'Cig-a-likes' before,- they tasted like 'air', they produced a very small amount of vapor- not much, and they cost twice as much as a pack of ciggys- they only last a smoker for an hour ! Now, I get mad when I see them because I know that there are so many better alternatives available- just not as available as a convenience store in my small community.

Side note: I met my first 'Vapper in the wild' at a gig I was DJ at last night...ran up to talk with him. He was using some cig a like, and his eyes popped when I showed him my eGo-C with cartrages and another with my Twist battery. I know what 'Doug' is going to be buying this week !

I was thinking of just buying some clearos from v2 cigs since I already made the bone headed mistake of buying more than one look -a like....however since I have a v2 and blu are there any egos that are compatible with their usb chargers instead of buying more chargers....Are all kits "bad"(as in over priced) or just the ones like south beach and blu...the one below looks like good buy but is this not as good for a newbie
