I started vaping when my brother introduced it to me. I was smoking at the time, and I figured I would give it a try.

What made me realize that vaping was not just something I tried, like the hookah, was all of the options for mods and accessories, and all of the flavors to experience.

What made you start and keep vaping? I'm just trying to get an idea of what drew everyone to it in the first place.
Copd I knew I had to do something else

My G/F of the time was starting vaping as we both wanted to quit smoking. She was a wacko, and I'd drive 220 miles to visit her and she'd sleep on the recliner (staying up late, drinking till she fell asleep). My dad dies from opiods and/or lifestyle choices, and so I head down there (they lived close). Get dinner done, a little movie, we both head to bed and I wake up 2 hours later and she's F'ng not there.

Turns out when I went to sleep I sent some lung cookies flying, and one hit her. The proof was on the comforter. The next morning, I got a vape and started using it. (I was a 2 PAD smoker.) Lung cookie production slowed to a stop and I started getting exercise. All is good with vaping for me!

That's one of the biggest reasons I stay away from tobacco in general. I don't know how much longer my body will be able to recover from bad habits like smoking or drinking.

Thanks for the congratulations! I'll look up his story, unfortunately it's not an outlier. Tobacco kills, and if I were giving someone the same chemicals because they paid me to and they died, I'd be charged with murder. It's screwed up that we have to watch our loved ones and friends suffer because of that poison.
That is what got me to quit the first time. But memories fade and I started smoking again for about a year and a half after almost 3 vaping. So what is more important is what keeps me here. Back then it was the hobby. I loved working on mechs and making juice. The hobby part was my downfall in the end. When I got too busy working to maintain everything i started smoking again. So I keep the mechanicals as collectors pieces or if I want to tinker. Instead I use low maintenance equipment now. The shiniest I can find of course! I still DIY but now working down to 0 nic. and ultimately quit altogether.

I understand that completely. When I worked for Puckerfish, I had all of the time in the world to tinker and vape however I wanted, but once I went back to school and started driving all over the state, it became unfeasible for me to carry a dripper and build new coils and everything that goes with it. Now I use a tank, when before I refused to use tanks.

At least the tank is efficient and has some decent flavor

After 35 years smoker I was tired of smoking, tried quitting many times then failed. Saw a couple smoking silver tube thingy at a harley store looking at bikes. Never knew vaping existed then next day got a couple ego kits and the rest is history. It was the next day that first morning with coffee and no smoke but the vape did the trick. I knew I wasn't going to smoke ever again. Began to tinker with the clearo, found vape forums and YouTube then turned vaping into a hobby. Now after all money spent on gear it costs my wife and I less than 15 bucks a month to vape so the extra smoke money went to 3 brand new off the lot vehicles in 5 years(never in my life had a new vehicle) that we could never afford being a 2 smoker family....currently a 2016 Silverado....plenty incentive to vape.

That's one of the biggest reasons people quit smoking, or try anyway. Vaping can be just as expensive if you want everything and anything like some people do. I'm happy with my (now trimmed down) collection. It's all stuff I use every day, and it's very affordable

I started smoking at 17-18 years old. I started because of peer pressure and continued because it calmed me down. I was experiencing more stress than a typical older teen should go under. Then I picked up other addictions I cannot specify which only increased my smoking habit, to a pack a day of Marlboro reds. After overcoming many obstacles over the course of a few years I finally settled down got a job and was living a normal life. Throughout this time I would think many times of both my grandparents on my dad's side of the family who both passed from lung cancer. Quitting was just down the road at this point. I saw an Eonsmoke cigalike at the deli and bought it but it didn't do the job because it was too weak. Then I visited a smoke shop that was selling a battery with a fire button and the tank looked like it had four strings coming from the top to bottom (don't know what they are called). So I called my dad up and told him that if he would treat me to one of those I'll quit right then and there. Turned out that at 23 my dad bought me my first e-cigarette and I never looked back. My thought process was simple but common sense can be powerful. If the thing I was mainly addicted to was the nicotine then if I substitute it for another form as in the e-cigarette I couldn't go wrong. So I was a smoker for five years and I am so grateful that I was able to cut it short, now been vaping for 3 years. I'm only 26 and have a whole life ahead of me, a healthy life thank God.

Good post. I always called them disposable ego tanks, otherwise they're something like the old iClear 16s or something.
