What makes a "complete" Provari ?

With so many posts and praises about the Provari, I started doing my research, a fact finding mission if you will. I have some things that I wanted to post about what I've found out, along with questions I would love to have answered by those of you "in the know". Also correcting me of any misinformation I may have. This is not one of those "why should I pay that much" posts.

Im vaping an SVD while I write this post and at the moment it seems unbreakable and does everything I want it to do. I've even figured out how to use a lanyard on it without scratching it and having some big metal "claw" clamping down on it ( although I've found it ridiculously heavy and decided not to hang it on my neck). With that said, many posts here stating how these Chinese made mods like I own have come and gone over the past few short years of vaping and are always compared to the Provari and generally as time goes by, they fail to deliver and then the next thing comes out and the comparisons start all over again.

So here is what I've learned/decided or have questions about:

1. Mini or Original ? The original seems impractical when the mini will do all three battery types giving you stealth or full size battery power (with the appropriate bought separately extensions or telescopics. So, 150.00 (Blem but reported as good as un blemished) or 159.00 (non Blem) or 179.00 for a colored one that will chip seemingly easily per the photos that I see posted. (The smart buy to me is satin silver 2.5 due to the better looking logo.) I think they are selling perfect ones as Blems to move the product, just guessing here, no evidence of this.

2. Must buy the extension or a telescopic extension. The extension for the 18650 size battery ( 20.00) is not modern nor convenient so practicality dictates the telescopic attachment. The pro tele is 38.50 shipped ( 405 Vaperz - Shopping Cart )

3. Falls over easily, not bottom heavy. So needs a wide base attachment for indoor use/watching TV/nightstand use ( you know, if you dont want to break your Kanger/whatever device, also to not scratch it up) 36.00 bucks plus shipping. Maybe they will ship for frww if you purchase it at the same time.

4. Pro Ring. Some may say its not needed, but to me it looks incomplete without one. Would also support the base of some delivery systems such as the Kanger. 20.00 plus shipping (guessing 5.00) when you can find one in stock. (apparently they are in demand)

5. Lanyard capability. Purely a personal choice if you want one, but it seems to me to make it a "complete Provari" you need one. And not a shabby one. The best looking one is on a site that I saw that Ocelot ordered hers from a while back. 36.00 plus shipping. (again I will guess 5.00 shipping)

Batteries, chargers and delivery devices are not a concern here as you will need these for any Mod.

Total costs for a complete Provari Mini (as I see it) = 314.00 (I've chosen the newer 2.5 satin silver and extended warranty 25.00)

Questions I have: 1. The 800 MHZ compared to the Chinese 33 MHZ ...... what does that mean to me ? Why is this better ?
2. (for my info only) Is the Provari with the telescopic extension heavier that My SVD ? The telescopics are just way too convenient, no brainer, would not buy a separate "end cap extension" Can get lost/misplaced.
3. I understand the switch is not mechanical. Is this true ? f so, should be better would think, unless it could crack the circuit board inside.

Thats all I have really. I am sorry for the lengthy post. I guess I'm just trying to be thorough and wanted to put it all ion print. I would appreciate any positive feedback about anything I've left out that I would eventually need. Final costs my estimation is 314.00

It tips over just as easy as any other mod. That accessory is just a nice extra. If you don't have a problem with your SVD falling over then you wont have a problem with the Provari either.

I can hear a difference, but the IMO the quality of vape is the same. I hate using a carto tank on the SVD because of the sound it makes.

My Provari is my out and about device so I don't need nor do I want an 18650 battery configuration. It would just make it too long. One of the best things about the mini is how small it is. I do have the 18500 extention cap that I use around the house.

This is a complete Provari to me...

I did get one thing that you can't see in the picture that I would suggest to any owner of a Provari no matter the color you get. Jwraps has clear wraps for the Provari. I've had the same wrap on it for about 3 months now. The wrap doesn't look as good as new anymore, but the paint underneath it does...

Great idea. So can you replace the wrap and harm the paint on the Provari ? And is the paint on the Provari just paint or is it kinda rubberized like on an E-Joy ego ? If that work well, I may consider a color like the new red. Thanks for the response.

ive never used anything but 18650 so i cant help there

the base isnt needed if you use a tank that doesnt leak like the protank. it doesnt need to be stood up just lay it down.


the 800 hz is cleaner and more closely resembles a flatline dc output, some can feel the difference others cant. but i think it makes for a smoother vape, not better but smoother, if that makes sense.

the idea is simple to regulate voltage accurately it has to be pulsed. but provape wanted to get closer to a dc flatline for better performance (like a mech) so they raised the rate well about the china mods but not so high the accuracy would go off. the result is more of a mechanical style sizzle and not the rattlesnake.

if you look in the pro forum there is a post titled not a fan of the button, we discuss the button at length and i even have pictures of the board and button posted.
if you press hard enough to crack the board you will dent the mod as well, and no mod is safe from you lol.

there are many tanks and rbas that fit the provari nicely without the ring my cobra is one of them. but the ring is worth having and range from 8 to 20 dollars all over the place.

the paint is baked on ceramic powdercoat, a wrap wont harm it. but some people really beat it up others seem to have no problems mine lasted about a year without a nic before i sandblasted it off.

Oh, cost of the wrap ?

It's a ceramic paint. So it not rubbery feeling at all. The adhesive on the wrap will not peal up the paint. You might or might not like the look with a wrap on it. Stock the paint job is a mat finish, but the wrap is glossy.

The telescoping section ruins the look, a regular provari in 18500 mode is as small as the svd/vamo/telescoping zmax in 18350 mode, and the mini is barely smaller. Go with the regular, its still small and you actually get decent battery life, so you save money on batteries

Hey there! Most of your questions have been answered but just thought I'd chime in. I have 2...one standard satin w/extension that I use around the house & 1 standard purple. I haven't had any issues with them not standing up & I don't have any extra type of base on either of mines. I leave them standing all of the time when I'm not using them. I have however dropped them & knocked them over several times. I've had my purple 2.5 since February & it looks the same as it did the day that I received it. Keep in mind that my purple one goes everywhere with me & gets thrown in my purse with all of the rest of my crap on a daily basis. I do think the clear wrap is a great idea!

Oh! I intended to get the extension cap for my purple one but I find that my standard model with the 18490 batt last me all day. I just pop a fresh batt in before I leave the house! Hope this helps a little

I dont' have a lanyard or a pro-ring or that stand thingy. I didn't order a mini because the standard (18490) isn't much larger and the batt life is better. I do have an extension to use it in 18650 mode if I want. So all you really need for a "complete" provari is the Provari itself. (since you said you already have batts and a charger)

and no, it doesn't fall over easily... I use genesis rbas and the ability to stand up (sturdily) is very important to me.

Concerning the Tatroe base, I'm very glad that I got these for both of my Provari's. The AGA T2's make the Provari rather top heavy and before getting the bases if I wasn't careful in how I set the Provari's down they often tipped over. (Maybe I'm just a clumsy goof.)

After getting and using the bases, I've not had this problem once. I've even used the base on the Mini when out-and-about. It means that it won't fit in a pocket, but if I know I'll always be someplace where I can set it down to use both hands, it all works out. The base makes for a more secure feel while carrying it around.

The Pro Rings that I have are nothing more than "beauty rings". They offer absolutely no support to the juice carrying device, in fact they are so loose fitting that they easily spin.

If you are willing to purchase the extension sleeves from a manufacturer like Tatroe, the Mini offers the most options in length and battery choice. You can use one or two extension sleeves to use the 18490 or 18650 battery. That's not the reason that my second Provari was a Mini; I got it to use in its shortest form for easy portability and being more pocket-friendly. Having said that, I use the regular Provari in extended 18650 form almost exclusively. Nice to have two Provari's.

If you are really concerned about scuffs or nicks to the paint, get the satin silver. My satin blue v2.0 will be 1 year old in August, and I have not treated it with soft gloves. It has fallen from my lap onto the parking lot surface more than a few times when I've forgotten it was there getting out of the car. It has gotten two tiny nicks in the paint in this time (see the white specks on the blue Provari above). I firmly believe this cerokotte paint is tougher than powder coat, which a few of my other mods have. For myself, I got the colors that I found the most appealing to me, and didn't worry about how durable it might be.

Concerning the Provari's 800 MHZ to the Chinese 33 MHZ, all I know is that my Segelei V8 and Smoktech VV Gripper are not as accurate in voltage output when compared to the Provari's. I have to turn down a typical Provari voltage setting an entire 1 volt with the other two mods for a comparable vape. To some vapors, they interpret that the Chineses mods "hit harder". Well, to me it can burn some of my juice flavors if I don't turn the voltage down and I find that rather annoying.

And as far as a Provari lanyard, the best available is no longer being made unfortunately. Serenity Gear is out of business, at least for the time being.

Not sure of what batteries you have but AW IMR batteries button top are recommended. Others may void your warranty. There are other batteries that will work see the thread in the ProVari section. Button top is a must.
