Hi it's me again!

Now I'm trying to figure out the strength selections (or I'm guessing that's what it is). Some options for cartomizers are 4, 8, 11, 36 mg. I currently smoke an non-menthol analog that was classified as an ultra-lght 100. I've read a lot in this forum about many falling away from favoring a tobacco taste. Albeit, I probably will too but want to start with something that will mimick a light analog as closely as possible. I've also read and understand that nothing truly imitate an analog. So, I'd appreciate some advice on the strength.

Cheers to all!

I would advise getting a selection of strengths and flavors.

If that is possible, then you shorten your time in finding the right juice for you. Heck, you may even discover you work better with one strength/flavor in the morning, another during the day, and a completely different strength/flavor after dinner like I did when I started.

Hi Gustov! Welcome to ECF

You are correct in the statement that vaping cannot duplicate or even imitate the actual tastes and sensations of smoking a cigarette. I mixed a batch of juice one time that made me cough like crazy for an hour but thats as close as I've ever found. Having said that, there are some awesome tobacco-inspired flavors of liquid that somehow satisfy the taste cravings for smoking a cigarette. Very tasty too IMO.

...36 mg nicotine is considered very high by most of us. A few actually vape that level but the majority don't. 18 mg or in the case of a heavy smoker, maybe 24 mg might be good starting point. Judging from what you had been smoking, 16-18 mg would be a good start. If not possible, then 11 mg would be a possibility. As Hoosier suggested, it is handy to have a range of liquids as your needs may fluctuate through the day.

Also be aware that you can always dilute a High Nicotine liquid with extra PG/VG to reduce the nicotine concentration. So, if you have a 10 mL bottle of 36 mg liquid, you could mix it with an equal amount (10 mL) of Zero% nic liquid and end up with 18mg. It will also dilute the flavor unfortunately but it might make it vapeable to you. You could add some flavoring to compensate but that may be more complexity than you want to get into at this point. (however, if this idea appeals to you, pop over to the DIY e-liquid forum!)

Best Of Luck!

edit: it just occurred to me that you are using pre-filled cartos. In that case, your best option would be 11 mg. IMO.

My opinion - try both 10-12mg and 16-18mg and buy one bottle of 24mg in case you need more. I have smoked both ultralights and lights (and originally full strength) cigs. I think 10-12mg high PG juices on a decent ecig feel more like ultralights, 16-18mg felt more like lights to me. I was smoking 1.5+ PAD of lights and started on 16-18mg.

It's going to depend on other factors like the heat of your ecig, your vaping method, manuals (which make it easier to get a good hit) or autos, the PG/VG of your juice, and in the end - just how the various strengths feel to you.
