Ok, I've been vaping for a while now. I'm pretty darn happy with my setup, no complaints. I've got two Riva kits and an eGo kit. I use LR cartomizers, and an LR306 atty. The throat hit, warmth and vapor production satisfy me really well. I could go on with this setup for the rest of my life and be happy. But... I feel compelled to try a mod.

I'm just not sure what kind. I've been eyeing the roughstack because of it's lower price. I also like that it can easily be made into a smaller 3.7v device or bigger 6v device. But the button doesn't look all that comfortable and the craftsmanship seems "rough" living up to it's name I guess. lol.

The silverbullet looks great, especially the button. I also like the fact that it comes in black. I like the silver but it might be too shiny. The price of the SB is a little more than I'd like to spend for a kit. I'd like to keep a kit under $100 including batteries and charger if possible.

The box mods don't really appeal to me.

Part of me wants a 5 or 6v device. It seems like a waste to me to get a 3.7v mod. But at the same time the smaller size of the 3.7v mods seems more appealing and I'm already plenty happy vaping 3.2v so it would still be a boost in power. I don't want hot vaper and I don't want to rip through juice like mad, so maybe 3.7v would be better.

Last but not least, these plunger style buttons look intriguing. They seem awkward, but maybe they are comfortable and not as awkward as they look.

Any recommendations for me?

I just got my Buzz today and am thoroughly pleased with it. Variable Voltage is awesome! The buzz pro and infinity pro are both due out in the next couple of weeks if you can last that long... I believe he will be having a fire sale on the remaining Buzz classic model when they do come out if you can wait that long.

You can get an infinity kit for like 80-100 and a buzz kit for like 120 or so from notcigs.com (<-- first commercially available variable voltage devices on the market)

I also saw a chrome infinity kit being sold in the classifieds earlier today for $75 and I think it came with some extra batteries! Go check it out. :)

Best of luck to ya!

The box mods really didn't appeal to me either. I did see a nice tube style DIY 5v mod called The Detonator I like. ( it's on youtube) I haven't tried one but i'm wanting to try a 5v because I want something a lil more powerful than my 3.7 Riva. I too don't want hot vape or to go through juice lightning fast. That said, I mix my own juice and If I can keep getting supplies at cheap prices, it should balance out if I do use up a little more juice. ( I hope)

I wish you luck on your decision :)

Sparkplug, $30 for the kit, comes with 3.7v tube (silver, black, pink, or blue) batts, charger, 501 or 901 atty and adapter, and 6v Thermo tube (just need to buy batts, ~$12) Extra end caps are $12 for both, and $10 for another atty and adapter.

So for about $65, you can have 2 mods, 3.7v and 6v(or 5v or 7.4v with correct batts), both mechanical so there's nothing to break.

I'm gonna be ordering the extra caps n atty/adapter soon before they run out so i can have 2 for the cheap.

One downside- comes with 2 10ml juices that alot of people say taste like crap (old school tobacco), moms loves it tho, its got her vaping, BUT upside- if you ask in the comments section of order, theyll sub two bottles of their other flavors, real good customer service, ill be getting a bottle or 2 free when i order the caps cuz i emailed bout an hour too late asking for the swap

Deal on the kit is only good til the 17th i think. IMO tho, its a good mod, tons of vapor at 3.7 even with regular atty, good TH, good flavor on stronger flavors.

I checked it out but I think i'd hate that bottom button. But it is super cheap for a mod. Is it made of metal or plastic that looks like metal?

Just a couple of notes. I have a screwdriver MKII (bottom button), and its the only thing about the PV that I don't like. I *can* use it, but its just not for me.

I haven't tried high voltage, but I did make a 4.8v mod and it gives "warmer" vapor, not at all "hot". Oddly, I've found I use LESS juice with it (dripping), so I have to assume that's because I waste less. But even going only to around 5v, should be warmer and more abundant vapor, using the same amount of juice.

I would consider a PV putting out 4.8 volts a high volt PV. Your description of the vapor being "warm" not "hot" is a good one. Too many vapers who have only used 3.2v - 3.7v PV's assume incorrectly that moving up to the 4.5v - 5v range or VV, makes vapor feel hot. A good 5 volt or variable volt PV provides fuller, warmer vapor not "hotter" vapor. And also provides more consistency because the power level on larger batteries hold a higher charge longer. Regulated, boost circuit power provides the best consistency.

It's metal, aluminum, the colored ones are lacquered or enameled over i think. It's pretty tough as far is i can tell for now, only weak point i can see would be the atomizer threads, being small as they are, but using the adapter you don't end up screwing the aluminum threads too much. I too thought that the button would be awkward and i wouldn't like it, but really i've found that its rather easy and natural to press, i use my pinky usually, though its easy with any finger.

Of course, it's all a matter of personal preference, just i've seen alot of people say that about the button, including myself, only to receive it and decide that they actually like it rather much.
