I just purchased a JustFog MiniFit and I am trying to figure out how concentrated the nicotine level should be compared to what I used to vape in a RTA...

Was curious if I used 18mg on my RTAs should I increase the nicotine to say 24mg or 36mg?

I’ve been making my own juice for many years and have been into rebuildables but I’m kind of tired of wrapping/mounting/wicking coils and making juice so was thinking of just using the minifit system and buying some premade juice for a change...

I haven’t bought any juice in about two and a half years is it hard to find many options with such high nicotine content?

Thanks

Depends, really. I use the Doggystyle and True RTA's with MTL, and when I hit my pods, I get a similar amount of vapor, but probably a little less. So I'm upping the nic just a little for pods - going from 14mg to 18. But that's for the less "tight" pods. I've actually ordered some Nic Salt to try for my HCigar Akso, which is really tight. I'm guessing I'd need at least in that one. It comes with 50mg salt, and I could do with less than that.

What RTAs are you using, and are you doing DL or MTL?

Well I’m using some old “RDTAs” the Steamcrave Aromamizer v1 for the car and out and about and the Augvape Boreas for at home as it tends to suck through juice quite quickly.

Reason I made this thread and asked was if I decide to buy some premade retail juice however I think I’ll just continue mixing my own. I’m debating between the Smooth Nic Salt 100 mg and the Smooth Nic Salt 250 mg both from NicRiver.

Wow, quite a difference between those tanks & a Juul!
I DIY too. I've been using 14-15mg. But recently I looked at some data on how much nic salts (especially benzoic acid type) hits your bloodstream sooo much faster than freebase - almost identical to a cigarette. I thought I might vape a little less if I did nic salts, and ordered the hit nic salt from Nic River last week. Should have it in a day or so. I got the hit version, because I have to have TH, and I'm not wanting to reduce it. But like you, I'm not sure where I'll start. I'm thinking I'll just try the same 14mg, and see how it feels. I'm gonna try it in my EQ as well. This should make my coil last longer if I can up the nic and reduce overall juice.

Edit: Sorry, must've gotten my threads confused, and kept thinking you were comparing to Juul. Either way - Juul/Minfit/Any pod, big difference from RTA's & RDA's!

Good choice to keep making your own juice. It's interesting to try the same juices with NS instead of FB.

As far as mg level, that's hard to say since it will be very dependent on the pod device you'll be using. A small pod with very limited draw will need more nic than a pod that gives a restricted direct lung hit. For the less restrictive (like the Orion) I would think 24 to 30 would be a good start. If a MTL pod (like the JUUL) probably close to 50mg/ml. But since you make your own juice that will be pretty easy to dial in to your preference. Just start a bit low and work up to what you like.

I would encourage you to get a small bottle of Smooth salts too. It's a balance to get the TH you're looking for and get the nic you need just right. Even Smooth salts at high enough level can give a pretty good TH. So play with it a bit. And of course, you can still use FB nic if you want and adjust the levels that suit you and whatever device you use.

That's sort of a hard question to answer. I went from vaping 3mg freebase in sub ohm rtas to vaping 50mg salts in sourin drop basically over night. A large portion of it has to do with how much vapor is produced by the device you are using along with how much you feel you need to vape.

I found that with 50mg salts I only need to take 2-5 puffs to get a satisfactory amount of nicotine, where as with sub ohm vaping I would need a solid 20 minute session to feel satisfied.

I guess over all my suggestion would be to try 25-35 mg salts first and if it's not enough increase the amount of nic. Unfortunately it seems most nic salt juices are only avalible in 25 or 50, in some cases 35 and 55. Nic salt has been a god send for me, but there wouldn't have been much room for me to find the perfect level of nic without mixing my own juice.

These days what seems to work best for me is 25mg in higher output devices like the orion and 40mg in devices with low vapor output like the sourin drop or smok novo. I tend to vape 6mg in sub ohm devices with nic salt now because of the reduced throat hit when compared to freebase.

Well, I got my "hit" nic salts. Mixed at 25mg, and was real disappointed. You can tell the nic is there, and feel it very quickly. But I'm a TH junkie, and it really doesn't have the TH of my 14mg freebase. I'll have to experiment with a mix of freebase and salts.

So a lot of what level will satisfy you depends on how much nic you need to feel satisfied, as well as the TH if you need that.

That surprises me somewhat. All of the salt nic juices I've tried that use hit salts are like trying to inhale from a garden hose filled with hot nails. If you aren't getting nic sick try going up to around 35-40mg. From my experiences 55mg hit salts has more throat hit than 24mg freebase by a pretty large margin.

Yeah, I don't really want the nic that high, though. I can feel the nic in my system fine at the 25- even that is kind of more than I usually would need, and it feels plenty strong. But it just doesn't give the same hit as freebase. But part of it depends on what you are using. I think in a tight pod, you can probably feel it more. I'm going to try the 25 in my EQ.
