I currently have an Aspire Atlantis tank and an Aspire Cf Mod with an 18650 battery. I recently bought a Mutation X rda that has a 0.3 Ohm dual coil set up. The Aspire Cf Mod has a range of 0.3 - 1.0 Ohms but the vapor production is lower with the RDA then the Atlantis tank.

I want to find a Mech Mod or box to pair my new RDA with for cloud chasing. Any advice or suggestions on what is a good budget mod or box to pair with the Mutation X for cloud chasing?

Thanks in advance.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

With a mechanical mod the only way to "fine tune" your vape is to build a new coil. With a high vv/vw regulated mod (and its buck/boost circuitry) you can "fine tune" with a push of a button. On a mechanical mod your voltage drops as you vape, with a regulated mod this does not happen. Your first hit is just as good as your last hit.

A high vv/vw mod is a lot more versatile than a mechanical mod (not to mention safer, less upkeep, etc). The beauty of a high vv/vw mod is that you don't have to build low sub-ohm coils to get a great vape. In fact, building low sub-ohm works against you. Higher ohm coils use more wire which means more surface area to vaporize juice. This increases both heat and vapor production.

With a mechanical mod you increase the warmth of your coil by building lower ohm coils. However, the electronics in a regulated mod boosts the power coming from the battery so the ohms of the coil no longer control the warmth.

Here's a good thread on the subject: My thoughts about sub-ohm and latest VV/VW devices...

Rwb1500 has a great point. I once had the B&M owner make me a coil and he's great at it, tested it and everything yet when I got home I decided to test it on my own ohm meter and was at .1 instead of .2 and making my mod and battery warm up a bit too much so I was able to avoid any issues that way, just swapped the coil and made my own using Steam-engine's recommendations for my batteries.

That definitely was a helpful read. I am new to RDA's and cloud chasing in general. Any suggestions on a Mech or box?

Thanks again.

I can't recommend a VV/VW device, but I really love my copper SMPL clone. I have the Mutation X v2 on mine and it works great and chucks clouds and has great flavor. What 18650 battery are you using? I would recommend the 25Rs for sub ohm, or VTC4. Doubt you'd be able to find some VTC5s unfortunately.

I am using a SubOhmCell 2800 MAH 3.7 High Drain 35 Amp battery.

Have you read anything about the authentic vs the clone? Any complaints or pros compared to other things you have used? I'm knew to the whole Mod scene so any insight is helpful on what to look for or stay away from.

Thanks,
Syn

I think your best bet would be buying a quality ohm reader.

As Rwb1500 suggested I have already been looking into buying an Ohm reader. I have yet to do any builds myself but that is definitely one of the next steps in my process. I have 2 different shops test the coils (the shop that built the coils for me and a seperate shop) for me and both came back as 0.3 Ohms.
